Hi GlobalGiving donor,
The Women Empowerment in Renewable Energy Project aims to empower women in rural Uganda through training and capacity building in renewable energy, while preparing them for future opportunities in employment and entrepreneurship within the sector.
The project focuses on equipping women with basic technical, financial, and managerial knowledge to enable their participation in renewable energy initiatives and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Progress Achieved
Despite limited resources, the project has made initial progress through:
Conducting awareness and training sessions on renewable energy opportunities
Building women’s knowledge and interest in renewable energy solutions
Engaging communities on the importance of women’s participation in clean energy initiatives
However, due to inadequate funding, implementation has remained limited.
Challenges
The project continues to face major challenges, including:
Insufficient financial support to scale activities
Inability to provide renewable energy products and practical tools to beneficiaries
Limited capacity to conduct extensive hands-on technical training
Delayed rollout of entrepreneurship and job placement support
To date, no renewable energy products have been distributed, which has slowed practical learning and community impact.
Need for Support
There is an urgent need for donations and funding support to enable the project to achieve its intended impact. Additional resources are required to:
Procure renewable energy products for training and demonstration
Expand training programs for more women
Support women-led renewable energy enterprises
Facilitate practical skills development and job placement opportunities
Conclusion
The project has laid important groundwork in raising awareness and building interest among women in renewable energy. With adequate donor support, it has strong potential to transform livelihoods, promote gender inclusion, and contribute to sustainable energy access in rural Uganda.
