Babaegbe village in Akinyele local government still suffer from lack of portable water, which has hampered their health and socioeconomic lives. Oak Rural Health Organization took a new dimension to ensuring a portable and sustainable access to water supply. Our team had been engaged with an ongoing dialogue with the community elders and other representatives. The villagers were amazed to realise our level of commitment and dedication to ensuring a lasting solution to the problem. However, key influential people and politicians who hailed from the district were identified. Strategies were mapped out on how to get them involved and speed up actions on the project.
While our team tried considering a cost cutting approach. We were made to realise that such has been tried in the past. The local government authority has dug a well of about 45 feet in depth. Having spent more than expected, it was of no use as the terrain was a rocky and hard to dig type.
Geophysical survey has been conducted and 3 points were identified for a productive borehole. Oak Rural Health Organization has contacted several people to ensure this project is executed within the shortest period. Green lights are begining to shine as some of them are offering a partnership options which we consider a good way to getting it done faster. We have sent appeals to some of our donors who may be interested in helping out. The community members are also willing to offer themselves as labourers where necessary. We still need a little above $3000 to meet our funding goal.
