This project was designed out of passion to ease the burden of lack of access to portable water in Babaegbe village of Akinyele local government in Ibadan Oyo state Nigeria. Our team recently paid a visit to the village, there was not yet any improvement to their standard of living as the major pressing problem, which is lack of access to portable water still lingers. We had series of dialogue with the community elders, discussing how to provide a self sustainable solution to the problem."We are poor farmers who could hardly provide food for our families, not to talk of digging a borehole which needs up to a million of naira” The elders responded. Several politicians have visited and made series of pledges but to no avail. Our organization fell so concerned, realizing how a mere borehole with a hand pumping machine can transform the living standard of the families. These villagers depend on water which is the major raw material at different production stages of quality palm oil. As well, the villagers and the children appeared rough and untidy, this predisposes to an imminent disease outbreak. Some of them are already contemplating leaving for a greener pasture in the city. This may further lead to overcrowding and its associated dangers in the recipient city. Expert opinion from a reputable borehole drilling company, made us realized that under five thousand USD($5000) will provide the village with a borehole and install a hand pumping machine. This will prevent an unnecessary mortality due to disease outbreak, and improve their living standard by increasing the quantity and quality of their production. Attached are the pictures of the villagers with our team and their palm oil proccessing factory. Presently, we have been able to raise only $700 out of our funding goal of $4313 for this project. We need to hit our target as soon as possible to enable us implement the project.
