I hope this message finds you well. I’m excited to share some wonderful news with you – Maxwell Odonkor, Founder and Executive Director of World Inspiring Network, has been honored with the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2024 Mentorship & Volunteerism Excellence Summit & Awards!

This award represents a significant milestone not only for Maxwell but also for all of us at World Inspiring Network. It highlights the dedication, hard work, and passion that our team and volunteers pour into making a difference in our communities every day.

The Mentorship & Volunteerism Excellence Awards recognize individuals and organizations that make an extraordinary impact in the fields of mentorship and volunteerism. Maxwell’s recognition is a reflection of the collective effort of our entire organization – from our staff to our volunteers, supporters, and of course, you, our valued donor.

Under Maxwell’s leadership, World Inspiring Network has empowered over 5,000 individuals across Ghana through initiatives focusing on education, youth empowerment, and climate action. This award not only celebrates Maxwell’s leadership but also underscores the role of every single volunteer, donor, and supporter who has contributed to making our mission a reality.

Green Action Project Follow-Up Report - Sep. 2024

Green Action Summit Team

We are thrilled to share exciting updates on the progress of the Green Action Project since our last report. With your ongoing support, we have continued to make strides towards empowering young leaders in Ghana to champion environmental sustainability.

Key Updates:

Green Action Project Launched:
On August 1st, 2024, we successfully launched the Green Action Project virtually, bringing together over 40 participants. The launch marked the official start of the initiative, setting the stage for the impactful activities ahead.

158 Applications Received:
The call for applications has garnered tremendous interest, with a total of 158 young people across Ghana applying to participate. We are in the process of selecting the participants, and the final list of selected individuals will be announced soon. Their enthusiasm is a testament to the growing interest in climate action and leadership among youth.

Green Action Summit Website Launched:
We are excited to announce the official launch of the Green Action Summit website, www.greenactionsummit.com. This platform will serve as a hub for information about the summit and the Green Action Project. A big thank you to GlobalGiving and all of you—our incredible donors—for making this a reality!

German Interns Have Arrived in Ghana:
We are pleased to welcome two of our three expert interns from Germany, who arrived on Friday, September 19th, 2024. They will be working with us until December 2024, supporting the implementation of both the Green Action Project and the Green Action Summit. Their expertise and dedication will play a critical role in the success of these initiatives. We look forward to welcoming our third intern on November 10th, 2024. All volunteers are fully sponsored by Engagement Global’s ASA Program, funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Challenges:

While we’ve made significant progress, securing sufficient funding remains a key challenge. Several potential partners have shown interest in collaborating with us, but their support has primarily been focused on providing expertise rather than financial backing. We continue to seek financial partnerships to ensure the full scope of the project is realized.

Next Steps:

Continue the selection process for the 30 young leaders.
Finalize preparations for the Green Action Summit in November.
Continue fundraising efforts to meet our project goal and sustain the activities of the Green Action Project.

Project Update and Progress Report

Introduction:

We are delighted to share the progress made towards our Green Action Project, which aims to empower 30 young leaders in Ghana to become environmental sustainability champions. Your support has been invaluable, and we are grateful for your trust in our initiative.

Key Achievements:

Fundraising: We have raised $223 out of our total goal of $10,000 up to date, thanks to your generosity.
Partnership: Our collaboration with Engagement Global's ASA Program has secured three expert volunteers from Germany to support our project. The first two volunteers will arrive in mid-September 2024 for a three-month stay, and the third volunteer will arrive in early November for a two-to-four-week stay with all their expenses fully funded by Engagement Global.
Potential Partnerships: We are in discussions with potential partners to help fund the project.
Website Development: The Green Action Summit website is under development and will be launched soon.

Project Progress

The Green Action Project includes:

Six (6) Weeks Virtual Training: Participants would be taking through a six (6) weeks intensive virtual green leadership module to provide the knowledge, skills, and attitudes in entrepreneurship, with the possibility of 2 in-person meetups. Module includes; Introduction to Climate Change and Green Entrepreneurship, Environmental Literacy and Sustainability, Developing Green Business Ideas, Business Planning and Development, Pitching & Presentation Skills, as well as Climate Action and Community Engagement.
Community Service Projects: After the training, participants will be involved in 2 weeks community service projects, such as climate change advocacy, training, community cleanup, tree planting and more. Top 10 selected participants would pitch their ideas at the Green Action Summit on November 14, 2024 to showcase what they have been able to develop during the training.
The Green Action Summit: The culmination of the project, a platform that will bring together over 300 youths to showcase achievements and inspire collective action towards a sustainable future.

Next Steps:

Continue fundraising efforts to reach our project goal.
Finalize preparations for the volunteers' arrival and their respective projects.
Confirm partnerships with potential funding partners.
Launch the Green Action Summit website.

Challenges:

Our primary challenge remains securing sufficient funding to support the project's full scope. We continue to seek support and partnerships to ensure success.
