Advancements in Fight Against Plastic Pollution

By Alfred Lugela | Project Leader

Dear Esteemed Donors and Stakeholders,

We extend our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support in our ongoing battle against plastic waste. Your contributions have been pivotal in driving forward our mission to mitigate the impact of plastic pollution in mainland Tanzania, while simultaneously creating economic opportunities for our youth. As we provide this update on our progress, we wish to express our continued appreciation for your dedication to this crucial cause.

Since our last report in November 2023, significant strides have been made in advancing our objectives. We have witnessed a surge in participation, with more individuals, both youth and women, joining our efforts to combat plastic waste. Notably, our outreach and awareness campaigns have led to the formation of a coalition comprising seven Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) known as the "JEMANT Group." This coalition has made combating plastic waste its primary mission, demonstrating a collective commitment to our cause. We have strengthened our efforts by forming a consortium that engages in various activities, including environmental matters, and our director has been utilizing this opportunity to emphasize the importance of plastic waste removal.

Through the JEMANT Group and that consortium known as TCPN, we are ensuring that our project continues to progress, even in the face of remaining funding gaps. We are resolute in our dedication to working closely with you, our generous supporters, to ensure the project's success. The accompanying images depict one of our plastic wastes collection centre with activities keep going and directors actively engaging in sensitization and campaign efforts, emphasizing the importance of plastic waste recycling over disposal in TCPN consortium.

Looking ahead, our focus is on establishing youth centers dedicated to plastic waste collection in the coming months. To achieve this objective, we need to secure funding for essential equipment such as gloves, spring balances, collecting bags, and rental spaces. Your ongoing support has been instrumental thus far, and we kindly request your assistance in amplifying our message. Please consider sharing our cause with your networks, including friends, colleagues, institutions, companies, and family members, to help us raise the necessary funds for these upcoming project activities.

We remain optimistic about the future and are committed to enlisting the support of more individuals who share our passion for combating plastic waste. Whether you choose to make regular contributions or increase your existing commitment, your continued generosity will drive our mission forward. Together, we can make a tangible impact in the fight against plastic waste and pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future. Thank you for your unwavering support, and we eagerly anticipate your continued partnership as we strive towards our shared goal.
