Project Report | Jul 1, 2024
Continued Progress in Recycling Plastic Waste

By Alfred Lugela | Project Leader

Dear Donors and Stakeholders,

We are excited to update you on our ongoing efforts to reduce plastic waste and provide income for 250 youth in Tanzania. Your steadfast support has been essential to our progress, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity and commitment to our cause.

1. Introduction:

Thank you for being part of our journey to tackle plastic waste pollution and create economic opportunities for youth. Since our last update in March, we have made significant advancements, and we are eager to share our latest achievements and future plans with you.

2. Recent Achievements:

  • Increased Participation: We have successfully mobilized more youth and women to join our project, expanding our community of dedicated recyclers.
  • Plastic Waste Collection: Our efforts have resulted in the collection of over 1,200 kilograms of plastic waste since our last report, significantly reducing local pollution.
  • Collaboration with JEMANT Group: The coalition of seven NGOs, known as the JEMANT Group, has continued to work diligently towards our shared mission. This collaboration has strengthened our impact and broadened our reach.
  • Awareness Campaigns: We have conducted several awareness campaigns, educating the community about the importance of recycling and the economic benefits it brings.

3. Establishing Collection Centers:

We are in the process of establishing six plastic waste collection centers, which will serve as central hubs for our recycling efforts. These centers will enable us to efficiently collect, measure, and transport plastic waste for recycling. However, we still face challenges in securing sufficient funding to fully equip these centers.

4. Equipment and Funding Needs:

To ensure the success of our collection centers, we need the following equipment and resources:

  • Gloves for safe handling of waste
  • Spring balances for accurate measurement
  • Collecting bags for waste storage and transport
  • Rental spaces for the centers

Despite the financial challenges, we are committed to finding innovative solutions and leveraging our resources to continue our work. Your continued support is crucial in helping us meet these needs and achieve our project goals.

5. Future Plans:

Looking ahead, we aim to:

  • Expand our Reach: Form additional youth and women groups to join our recycling initiative.
  • Enhance Collaboration: Strengthen our partnerships with other NGOs and stakeholders to amplify our impact.
  • Implement Training Programs: Provide comprehensive training for our participants, focusing on effective waste collection and recycling techniques.

6. Call to Action:

We kindly request your continued support in the following ways:

  • Make a Recurring Donation: Regular contributions will provide us with a steady stream of funding to sustain our activities.
  • Spread the Word: Share our project with your friends, colleagues, and networks to help us reach more potential donors.
  • Increase Your Commitment: If you are able, consider increasing your existing donation to further support our efforts.

7. Conclusion:

Your support has been instrumental in our fight against plastic waste and our mission to provide sustainable income for the youth. Together, we can make a significant difference and pave the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future. We look forward to your continued partnership and are excited about the progress we will achieve together.

Thank you for your unwavering dedication and generosity.

Warm regards,

Alfred Lugela
