Challenge

Teen moms and girls aged 15 to 18 from the poorest families in Lukobe, Ilemela, face severe social and economic challenges. Early pregnancies lead to school dropout, abandonment, and extreme poverty, forcing many into transactional sex and exposing them to abuse and discrimination. Their children are at heightened risk of malnutrition and poor health. Without education, vocational skills, or social support, these young mothers remain trapped in a cycle of vulnerability and poverty.

Solution

The project directly supports 15 single mothers aged 18-25 who receive six months of hands-on vocational training in tailoring, hairdressing, Life and Leadership skills. The program builds self-esteem, SRH awareness, and entrepreneurship capacity. It promotes financial literacy, apprenticeships, and market linkages for sustainable livelihoods. Training materials support each component, fostering ethical conduct, ownership, and community outreach through practical, business-oriented education

Long-Term Impact

This project empowers single mothers with marketable skills and allows them to start small businesses. Achieving financial independence and having support from community members builds a community of entrepreneurs who themselves build better family structures for the next generation. It fosters self-reliance, prevents child neglect, and creates a path to long-term stability through savings groups and access to government funds. Past graduates now serve as inspiring community role models.
