Nawaya's Employment Hub is a free training and career-development program that aims to support at least 100 financially-vulnerable, unemployed Lebanese youth to increase their potential to secure work or income-generating opportunities. Youth receive technical training based on their career path, as well as soft skills and employability training with trainers and one-on-one coaches. Our program has been running since 2020, and has supported over 1,200, with a nearly 70% employment success rate.
Lebanon faces a high unemployment crisis exceeding 30%, driven by war and economic and financial collapse. This labor market collapse has pushed over half the population into poverty, depriving households of basic necessities and destabilizing social cohesion. The resulting desperation exacerbates financial vulnerability, limited income opportunities, and increased social stressors like poverty, mental health pressures, and economic insecurity.
This initiative empowers 100 unemployed youth through a targeted, three-track program: 1. Employability Training: Intensive coaching in soft skills, interpersonal communication, and career guidance. 2. Technical Upskilling: Enrollment in market-aligned vocational courses to build certified, job-ready hard skills. 3. Personalized Career Coaching: Sustained one-on-one professional coaching to foster resilience and career clarity.
The program counters war and economic paralysis by developing a skilled, competitive workforce. Graduates will possess certified technical abilities and enhanced professional competencies, significantly raising their employability and allowing them to find local and remote employment especially given the dire economic situation in Lebanon. With youth securing employment, they will be able to support themselves and their families during these unsettling and unprecedented times in the country.
