Challenge

The earthquake forced approximately 10,000 people to flee their homes for safety. Across large areas of Kumamoto, lifelines such as water, electricity, and gas have been cut off. People in evacuation centers urgently need food and daily necessities to survive. Meanwhile, the needs of people with disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable groups have not received sufficient attention under the current circumstances.

Solution

AAR Japan has dispatched an emergency response team to the affected areas to carry out relief efforts. Planned activities include serving hot meals and distributing emergency supplies.

Long-Term Impact

Following the emergency phase, we will provide reconstruction support to help affected people rebuild their lives in areas such as health, education, and disability support. We will continue offering mental and physical care to disaster survivors, along with medium- to long-term community support, so that they can return to daily routines such as attending school or disability support facilities.
