Katarina, a Ukrainian who fled the war and came to Türkiye, fell into a vegetative state after a stroke shortly after getting married here. Her mother, Switlana, who came to Türkiye to take care of Katarina, continued to care for her at home after the hospital process. Also, Katarina’s husband went to Dubai for work and never returned to Türkiye.
All of Katarina’s treatment expenses—medication, diapers, food, and doctor visits—are covered by her mother. However, they are going through tough times due to financial difficulties. Katarina can benefit from general health insurance through her husband, but she is not admitted to the hospital due to premium debts.
Association for Social Development and Aid Mobilization(ASAM) is supporting Katarina by providing legal information and psychosocial support throughout the process. With no income, Katarina is trying to make a living with the help of the Ukrainian Association and people around her. Her mother states that she has not been able to leave the house for a long time in order to take care of her daughter. Katarina needs support to overcome this difficult process.
