Refugees are stuck in limbo, waiting for their immigration papers to be approved, hoping to be reunited with other family members who are either trapped in other European countries or even gone missing. They are unable to travel, and can only wait for their fates to be defined by the various committees. Can you imagine being trapped in a place with iron wiring, not knowing if or when you will see your mother, your brother or child again?
To make matters worse, European and government aid directed at Greek hotspots is feeble, and the present infrastructure is not optimized for housing such a large number of people.
Tensions run high in the summer heat as refugee hotspots are not provided with the luxuries of having airconditioning in order to deal with the latest heatwave hitting the country.
Refugees are resented and overwhelmed. Reports of violence have increased exponenially. Women and girls refugees live in fear of hunger, sexual harassment, violence and abuse by male refugees or even by the authorities.
We need your support to help alleviate refugees' suffering and improve the conditions under which they live as much as possible! We need donations and volunteers!
