So far our Syrian Refugee Relief Project has raised $3,075.95 due to 47 life changing Donors. Unfortunately this is only a drop in the ocean for the many people found stranded in Greece.
Even though Greece is facing an unprecedented economic crisis, we have been touched by the unending work offered to this project by volunteers who have worked effortlessly to distribute the basic supplies needed to keep these traumatized people alive. As there has been no political advancement in providing a solution for these souls your donations and concern have been our only driving force.
Thanks to your generosity we have been able to help by sending clothes, shoes and sleeping bags to Lesvos where most of the refugees that made the crossing were hosted initially. We went on to deliver milk, yoghurt, infant formula and diapers to the families with young children living in various hotspots in and around Athens, on a regular basis. Together with other NPO's involved in this humanitarian disaster we have been instrumental in feeding and educational programmes throughout this unfortunate crisis. Having come close to the people we have tried to help we realize that there are some more vulnerable than others. Women with young children travelling alone find themselves in danger in more ways than one as the conditions in the Hotspots are far from humane.
Although our resolve has not diminished our funds have!
We are however proud to announce that one of our many beneficiaries has given us 5000m2 in the centre of Athens to set up as small hosting apartments that will help these women regain some form of dignity and normality for their children. By setting up small apartments with access to proper bathing and sanitary facilities we hope to give them back the hope for a better, safer and healthier transition into their new lives!
In order for us to continue providing the very basic needs to as many refugees as possible and to continue ,with the help of our volunteers, with projects that will make a difference in the lives of so many less fortunate than us we would appreciate your support. Whether through donations or just by sharing our project with your friends, family and colleagues you are adding momentum to our efforts and helping to change so many lives!
