Across Gaza, an estimated 1.7 million people—roughly 300,000 families—are living in displacement sites, many of them informal camps, following widespread destruction and violence. Restrictions on humanitarian supplies and movement severely limit access to shelter and essential services.
Relief International continues to stand with Palestinians whose lives are shaped by this ongoing instability. Together with local health facilities and our partners, we are delivering essential healthcare and services to save lives and help build resilience.
Our recent efforts include:
Providing mental health and psychosocial support – In displacement camps and shelters in Gaza City and Deir Al-Balah, we are creating safe spaces where children and caregivers can begin to process trauma and rebuild emotional stability. Children are participating in structured group sessions, using play, movement, storytelling, and discussion to explore emotions, manage fear, and resolve conflict. Caregivers are gaining practical tools to manage stress, support their children, and practice positive parenting under extraordinary pressure. Early signs of change are being observed: children are beginning to show reduced fear and anger as well as more positive social interactions, while caregivers are reporting greater awareness, confidence, and small but meaningful improvements in family relationships. These changes represent initial steps in a longer process of recovery.
Improving health facility infrastructure – Relief International is upgrading pharmaceutical facilities in Al Khair hospital with improved management systems, shelving units, air conditioning, fans, and a medical grade refrigerator to enable staff to safely and efficiently support patients. These facility upgrades help ensure easily accessible stock, controlled storage conditions, reduced waste, faster distribution to hospital departments, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Strengthening maternity services and care – To create safer conditions for newborn deliveries, caesarean sections, and general surgical procedures, Relief International is also equipping Al Khair hospital with patient beds, baby cots, and medical trolleys. We are providing care kits to mothers and their babies—many of whom have no option but to shelter in tents during the critical first days after birth—that include warm clothing, blankets, hygiene items, diapers, and basic newborn supplies.
Training health professionals in malnutrition – With severe acute malnutrition leaving children weak and vulnerable to life-threatening complications, Relief International organized training for Al Awda hospital health professionals to manage critical cases. The three-day session focused on accurate diagnoses, therapeutic feeding protocols, management of medical complications, and monitoring of recovery.
As extreme suffering persists, Relief International remains committed to supporting and strengthening local health systems so that Palestinian families can access lifesaving treatment.
Thank you for your support.
