Update from Relief International: Emergency Relief for Gaza and the West Bank

By Brooke Souza | Director of Philanthropy

Across Gaza and the West Bank, the compounding effects of conflict, displacement, economic collapse, and restrictions on humanitarian access fuel a deepening crisis. Relief International remains steadfast in delivering multi-sectoral interventions and support community resilience for the estimated 3.1 million Palestinians who live each day under devastating conditions and in urgent need of assistance.

In the face of immense obstacles—including the collapse of basic services, forced closure of hospitals, and famine conditions caused by Israel’s blockadesupport from the Relief International community has helped our team and local partners sustain the continued delivery of critical emergency and secondary healthcare, nutrition and WASH services, child protection, and community-based psychosocial servicesAmid ongoing destruction, we continue to provide continuity of education for displaced students through temporary learning space and tailored learning support.

In September, Relief International began supporting Al Khair Hospital in Khan Younis (Southern Gaza), operated by our local partner Al Sahaba, to restore and deliver critical maternal services. Working with Al Sahaba, our team rehabilitated the maternal ward, a section of the hospital that had been severely damaged.

While the unit is providing urgent and necessary care, the situation across Gaza and the West Bank remains dire. Your continued partnership is crucial in helping us to scale our coordinated, needs-driven response for conflict-affected populations.

In Gaza, where Palestinian women and girls remain disproportionally affected by active military operations, displacements, widespread famine, and limited access to basic services, we are preparing to build on the healthcare efforts central to our approachWe aim to expand protection and education support through establishing safe spaces for women and girls, increasing access to maternal and child health care, and strengthening psychosocial and mental health services.

In the West Bank, we are preparing to expand protection and trauma-informed care for communities facing escalating violence, movement restrictions, and shrinking access to services. Our response will again include initiatives around psychosocial services and community-based outreach tailored to women, youth, and other underserved groups.

With your support, we will amplify these initiatives and bring lasting impact for families enduring one of the world’s most protracted crises.
