Baby Wateen came close to not reaching her first birthday. It was the unwavering determination of her mother Alaa that brought her to Al Awda’s hospital in Nuseirat, where she received the malnutrition treatment she desperately needed through the Relief International-supported malnutrition center.
After receiving supplements, vitamins and fortified milk, Wateen’s acute malnutrition improved from severe to moderate.
She is one of over 8,000 people supported with nutrition services and about 350 children under the age of 5 who received treatment for acute malnutrition in this center.

Against devastating destruction, continuous bombings, and the dismantlement of humanitarian assistance across Gaza, it takes unyielding determination to save lives in what has becomeone of the most complex crises and operating environmentsfor aid organizations.
Relief International is proud to have been able to provide vital support to over 20,000 war-affected Palestinians of Gaza whose lives have been upended for over 18 months, primarily through two hospitals run by our partner on the ground, Al Awda Community and Health Association.
“The support we receive from Relief International is a glimmer of hope for the future, an attempt to restore what was destroyed, and it contributes to bridging a large gap in health care delivery,” said Rafat Majdalawi, General Director of Al Awda Association.
