THhe family infront of their house being rebuilt

Kerala has faced drastic flood during 2018 and 2019 which has affected the lives of people in different ways. Government of Kerala has implemented a number of helping aids for the victims. People managed to overcome the effects of flood with the support of the government. Even then there were people who haven’t received sufficient help from the schemes implemented by the government as they were not aware of those schemes and couldn’t complete the formalities for availing the services. Trivandrum Don Bosco Veedu Society has identified a family who were drastically affected because of the flood during 2019.

The family consisting of mother and two children lost their house during the landslide caused by the heavy rainfall and flood at Aruvikkara, Trivandrum which is approximately 25km away from Trivandrum main city. They couldn’t avail from the government as they were not aware of it. We jointly with the panchayat ward member and other local leaders has initiated in building a good shelter for the family so that they wouldn’t have to continue living under the tent which they used to live in after the flood.

We have managed to gather funds from local donors and GlobalGiving donors inorder to build house for the family. We expect to identify more victims of flood in rural areas who seek helping hand for rebuilding their lives.
