Updates On Emergency Funds For Displaced Families

Greetings To Our Supporters and Sponsors;

We want to thank you for your continued support and funding for our displaced families who have been victims of Civil unrest for the past five years. The on-going continuous civil conflicts is really taking its toll on the population that has remained in the NW/SW English speaking region in Cameroon. In addition to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the ghost days have caused the most anxiety and stress for the people. On ghost days, we have to remain in-doors. We are not allowed by the authorities to go shopping or to work if we still have a job.

The security alerts from the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon only adds to the frustrations, worries and stress that the local people are having to deal with in the NW/SW Region.

Recent information circulated on social media in Cameroon calls for an increase in violent attacks in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon and expresses anger at the international community. The State Department’s latest Travel Advisory for Cameroon recommends that U.S. citizens do not travel to the Northwest and Southwest Regions due to armed separatist activity that has led to increased levels of violence. The U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in these regions due to current official travel restrictions. Actions to Take: (1). Monitor local media for updates, (2). Avoid crowds, (3). Keep a low profile (4). Be aware of your surroundings, (5). Review your personal security plans, (6). Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists/Westerners, (7). Carry proper identification, including a U.S. passport with a current Cameroonian visa, (8). Have evacuation plans that do not rely on U.S. government assistance

INCIDENT REPORT BY PRESIDENT

On May 8th 2022, The President received a call that informed her to start coming immediately to the village that her son has been seriously beaten to near death . She was further told that he was in Bamenda Town and got the information from a good samaritan. As soon as she got the information that early Sunday morning at about 8:00am, she immediately started to pack some of her things and went to the agency to book for a seat to travel to Bamenda. By 8:30am, she said, I was already at the agency and the bus took off at exactly 9:30am. When we got to the Mix Military Control Check Point (Matasm) at about 4:00pm, I was held back by the Military men because my ID Card had expired. After begging and explaining to the police men that I did not notice and that I am in a pressurised condition, they did not listen to me and so the bus I took left with my things and allowed me there at the control point. I spent some time there at that check point for about 1hr while begging other buses if they could take me to town. Fortunately for me one bus came driven by a Muslim boy took me to town where I finally arrived Bamenda town at about 7pm. When I got to the agency in Bamenda, I could not find my Bag I asked around and I was directed where luggage’s are kept. I checked but still did not see my bag meaning it was stolen. God being so kind, I accidently met with a family brother who helped paid my taxi fair to my destination at hospital round about. I headed to the hospital where my son was hospitalised being unconscious, with a big wound on his head.

The next day Monday May 9th 2022, one person came from the village to visit my son in the hospital and Narrated the whole story to me. Which in brief he said they defendants came and collected his bike and when my son saw them few days latter with his bike, he pleaded for them to return his bike but instead they held him, beat him and abandoned him on the ground where he his latter discovered by one palm wine tapper who saw him and alerted the villagers where he was immediately rushed to the Village Health Center at Njah-Etu. He passed the first night. Early the next morning, he was transferred to the Mbengwi District hospital where his head was stitched then he was finally referred to the General hospital in Bamenda where was cared for. Presently my son is in the house in Bamenda Town but goes to the hospital everyday to clean his wounds. Attach below are some pictures of my son with an opened head. We are praying for a speedy recovery for our leader's son! We pray that with your financial support that we will be able continue to help these victims of this civil war. We will continue to reach out and serve these victims in the five zones where we provide humanitarian services under very risky conditions. Thank you for your financial support to help us make a difference in the lives of the people in the NW/SW Region in Cameroon, Africa.

Collaboration and Partnership building with communities and other civil society organization in pursued of its vision, mission, goals and objective to serve and change lifes and provide a hopeful future for youths, boys and girls, women, men and above all youths in all our beloved communities that we serve.

JRCCA Sponsored Wheel Chair Program for Disable children in war zone of NWR region in Cameroon. Life changing project that will change lives for ever. JRCCA Partnership with a Bamenda based Civil Society NGO, NGO working with the disable persons in Bamenda "on Sunday, 13th February 2022 was a remarkable day in the lives of three children with mobility impairments who are members of Community Resource Centre for the Disabled and the Disadvantaged (CRCDD). These children are Remy (male, aged 6), Sharon (female, aged 10) and Destiny (female, aged 16). All three children were born with disabilities and walking like other humans has always been their greatest wish, yet such a wish has never come true and their only independent means of movement has been crawling. Though the children were in dire need of wheel chairs, their families did not have the means to meet up with such a need. Thanks to the collaboration between CRCDD and John Retreat Centre Cameroon Association (JRCCA), the desires of these needy children to own and use wheel chairs became a reality on this day."

The families of the three beneficiaries say they are overwhelmed with these gifts of wheel chairs which will go a long way to alleviating the long suffering they as family members have been facing in lifting and carrying their physically challenged children around.
Speaking on behalf of CRCDD, the Coordinator-Mme.Florence thanked JRCCA for their largesse and reiterated the need for persons with special needs to join an association, so that they can collectively work out strategies of overcoming their difficulties. As an experienced wheel chair user, Mme. Florence also gave some tips to the beneficiaries and their families on how to use the wheel chairs sustainably."

Threat: scourge of War that has been rocking the NW/SW Regions in Cameroon since 2016, leaving more than a million displaced more than 3000 children killed, youths in huge number unemployed

Progress Reports from JRCCA

Greetings To Our Donors and Supporters;

One of the major problems for our displaced families has been the lack of communication from zone to zone and to our main headquarters in Yaounde. Communication is one of the most important standard in our JRCCA Organization because of the challenges of the on-going Civil War for the past five years and the rural environment that has tremendouly impacted our survival in an isolated environment.

We are indebted and give thanks to our sisters organization in the USA who helped us by providing finances to buy two Android phones to improve the communication challenge for some of our identified displaced members who have been deprived of these tools to use in carrying out organization activities at various levels in their zone. These phones will be used as part of the Cyber-Cafe , Walkie Talkie, Project that will improve communication between the Zones and the Home Office in Yaounde as well as open doors to be able to communicate over the internet and zoon with sister organization in the USA.

This equipment (an Android phone of mark Itel A56) was handed to the Zone 5 Director for Internally Displaced People ( IDPS). This event took place at the JRCCA Simbock Head office in Yaounde Cameroon ,Africa. It was Coordinated by Manager of Cyber Cafe, JRCCA President, JRCCA Vice president and the Zone Director for Zone 5 and the SNT leaders for Zone 5 and FRD for Zone 5 in the SWR .

This equipment will be used to enhance communication in many ways bridging the gap between the rural communities and indigenous people of Weh , connecting the indigenous people of Weh via the internet and zoom. Also connecting Wum to the main office and the International Community and the USA via internet and zoom, Reporting on activities of the JRCCA NGO work to support more than 10 families, 20 students, 10 women in Wum area, 30 women in Toneku village in Zone 1 in the English speaking region of NW Cameroon. These phones will also enhance the JRCCA Women Empowerment projects in Weh, Zone 5, Toneku village in Zone 1 which promote Women's rights for these women and girls who have been displaced from their families, villages, communities and region in Cameroon. These zone are the most isolated at this time and the IDPs do not have access to outside information for days.

The equipment will also be used to promote and improve health education and sensitization on importance of education and awareness about the HiV/AIDS project for displaced families because of the Civil conflict and the pandemic. Many of the displaced families are still in hiding in the bushes and are in situations where they do not have access to basic information. Working with our new partners on collaborative projects we will be able to promote youths and sports projects which have always been main events for youths in the English speaking NW/SW Regions. The equipment will help indigenous Bee Farmers in Weh and help establish JRCCA IT Cyber Cafe in Weh Village , Wum, and TAAH and , Mbengwi in Momo Division etc...

For example, one of the Android phone will reach the contact person at a later unknown date. " He said he is in Kom for now and that when he will be going to Bamenda Town, he will inform me and in the mean while if any JRCCA officer will be coming to Bamenda, I can kindly inform him so he can rush and collect it. So I told him ok I will get with the President then get back to him".

"With regards to the website, we are currently working on a cost analysis assessment of the potential solutions to adopt for our website infrastructure. We want to ensure that the development and maintenance of the site will be sustainable and easy to update. Once an ideal solution is chosen, we will do well to keep you apprised". "JRCCA NGO has a a goal to developing Technology for Good in this World"

If we are going to implement the concept of global social responsibility for our displaced families because of the Civil conflict in the English speaking NW Region in Cameroon and in the USA (Relationship between USA and Cameroon does exist) to improve health, education, living conditions, clean water, the economy and reduce poverty in the families, villages, communities, regions and the nation of Cameroon, we need to continue to focus setting and achieving SMART GOALS with ACTION STEPS despite the challenges from the Civil Conflict, Pandemic or other adverse challenges to the English speaking NW/SW Regions in Cameroon.
