Final Report:

In the previous report we have mentioned that around 5 million people were affected by flooding 2019 in Bangladesh. It was one of the most severe flooding Bangladesh has seen in the recent years. It has been around 6 months since the flood water have decreased and most of the people have now regained from their economic losses due to the flood.

The flood took of more than 100 lives this year; thousands of hectares of crop land were destroyed pushing poor communities into deep poverty. Currently almost all relief operation coducted by various NGOs, INGOs and Governmet has offically ended.

Uttaran wants to thank everyone who have supported us to take an action for the flood affected communities. Uttaran have been working in disaster risk reduction and providing emergency lifesaving support since late 80’s. The organization since its inception has provided emergency lifesaving support for more than 2 million people. In 2019 Uttaran have provided relief support for the Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh and the host communities. Along with food, household items and hygiene kits, Uttaran have repaired the houses and roads which were affected by the flooding. Uttaran even took the initiative distribute cattle meat among the Rohingya and the Host communities to share the joy of Eid.

Unfortunately Uttaran could not extend its support in the north western region of Bangladesh due to shortage of funding, but have supported our partners who have working in the flood affected areas.
