Emergency Ebola Response in Uganda

The fight against Ebola depends heavily on the safety of frontline health workers. Thanks to your generosity, we have continued supplying essential personal protective equipment (PPE) to health facilities and response teams serving vulnerable communities.

During this reporting period, healthcare workers received protective gloves, face masks, sanitizers, protective gowns, and disinfectants. These supplies are helping reduce the risk of infection among medical personnel who work tirelessly to identify, isolate, and manage suspected Ebola cases.

Many health facilities face shortages of protective equipment during outbreaks. Your support is helping bridge these gaps and ensuring that health workers can perform their duties with greater confidence and safety. Community health volunteers have also received protective materials to support outreach activities and household visits.

Thanks to your generous support, our Ebola prevention campaign continues to reach vulnerable communities across Uganda. During the reporting period, trained community volunteers conducted awareness sessions in schools, markets, places of worship, and village gatherings. Thousands of residents received accurate information about Ebola symptoms, prevention measures, and the importance of early reporting.

Misinformation remains one of the greatest challenges during disease outbreaks. Through community dialogues and door-to-door sensitization, families are learning how Ebola spreads and the actions they can take to protect themselves. Educational materials were distributed in local languages to ensure that critical information is understood by everyone, including those in remote areas.

Community leaders have become valuable partners in promoting preventive behaviors such as frequent handwashing, avoiding contact with suspected cases, and seeking medical assistance when symptoms appear.
