Since the first day of the earthquake, Needs Map has been actively working in the affected areas to minimize the devastating effects of the disaster and meet the needs of the local people. Needs Map’s container city processes continue meticulously in Hatay, one of the provinces most affected by the earthquake. Thousands of people who lost their livelihoods due to the destruction still face significant problems in terms of shelter, food, and other basic needs. In this context, Needs Map has adopted a comprehensive and holistic approach by addressing both short-term and long-term solutions together.
While providing immediate solutions to urgent needs, Needs Map also takes into account long-term needs to permanently improve the living standards of the local people. In order to meet the changing and specific needs of different focus groups, Needs Map does not only focus on basic needs such as nutrition, shelter, clothing, and hygiene, but also implements projects in broader areas such as psychosocial well-being, education, health, culture, art, and sports to improve the quality of life. These projects strengthen social solidarity and support the reintegration of individuals into social life. Projects specifically developed for vulnerable groups such as children, youth, and women reflect an approach that addresses the needs of all segments of society.
One of the most striking examples of these efforts is the Community Centers integrated into living spaces. Through these centers, the Needs Map provides activities that support the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of all residents in and around the region. The educational programs, psychosocial support sessions, sports activities, and cultural and artistic events organized in these centers help accelerate the adaptation process of individuals affected by the earthquake to daily life and re-establish social ties. Programs specifically developed for vulnerable groups such as children, youth, and women meet the needs of all segments of society.
In addition to all these, Needs Map is carrying out various support projects such as raw materials, technical equipment, training, and mentoring for cooperatives and SMEs affected by the earthquake in order to support regional development. These projects aim to accelerate economic development by helping local businesses rebuild and grow. Needs Map provides support to these businesses to ensure sustainability, organizes training to improve production processes, and provides technical support to make them more efficient. In this way, it is aimed to increase the economic vitality in the region and to strengthen the local workforce in the long term.
The sustainability of these areas is made possible by the valuable contributions of our supporters. With your support, we not only provide shelter in earthquake regions but also aim to build a stronger future by erasing the traces of the disaster and promoting a transformation based on solidarity. Together, we want to create a great power to rebuild lives, nurture hope, and accelerate social recovery. With your support, we will continue to be present and grow solidarity wherever needed.
