Terrible Floods have hit Bihar again. Over 350 people have died. Tens of thousand are homeless and do not have even a plastic sheet for shelter We need your help to provide Emergency Relief to reach out to 10,000 people. We need to provide blankets , mosquito nets, food, clothes and medicines especially for children. With our trusted position with local government we can ensure aid reaches those most in need of it quickly and safely.
Sometimes the larger aid agencies lack the local knowledge to be effective on the ground. People First is able to work directly with local people and genuine grass roots organisations and provide them with the assistance they need. We need to install deep water handpumps, provide new livestock, help repair damaged houses, and help expand preventative health care programmes. But we need to respond quickly with immediate assistance and to provide basic needs
People First a local organisation is uniquely placed to ensure aid and assistance actually reaches those who are in the greatest need. The priorities are clean water, preventative health care, housing and an opportunity for victims to earn an income
Of course this is primarily an humanitarian appeal. But through education about new organic farming methods and the constructive involvement of committed local organisations a framework can be built for positive and lasting change
