Thank you all!
With your donations to the Covid-19 emergency campaign in India, you have enabled us to support many families and children.
Indeed, there are over 1.5 million registered cases since the beginning of the emergency and the number of people who die due to the pandemic keeps rising every day. The healthcare and government facilities in the country are not capable of stopping the spread of the virus and, especially in the cities, the living conditions of many families get worse and worse as many economic activities are being shut down.
Moreover, the Global Hunger Index (GHI) has recently been published and India is ranked in position 94 with a truly dramatic situation in relation to the fight against hunger and denutrition. The GHI for the country is 27.2 and about 14% of the population is malnourished, especially children below 5 years old with a stunting rate of 37.4.
Thanks to the many donations, we were able to collect 903 euros! With this sum, in collaboration with our local contacts, we have bought and distributed food (rice, flour, oil, lentils, and sugar), masks and personal and household hygiene products to more than 300 families in a problematic state of fragility. In such a way, we could help them cope with the virus and respond to the severe hunger emergency.
We have been able to do much more than we initially expected and this is substantially due to your contribution! The lockdown has put in knee entire families who found themselves without those few rupees that allowed them to survive and who, also thanks to you, have managed to give a daily meal to their children.
Our effort continues thanks to your support and we wish that we will be able to definitely overcome, all together, this difficult emergency situation.
Many thanks for having made a difference in the life of our children!
