Residents have had their lives enriched through participation in many wonderful classes and programs.
The Bell Choir, under the direction of our music therapist, recently gave a wonderful performance and the Cedar Village choir, also directed by our music therapist, had a concert on stage here with another retirement community.
Residents love making necklaces for themselves and their friends and families in our "Jewelry with Kelly" class and are creating beautiful pieces in our "Ceramics with Beth" class.
Life begins at Cedar Village every day.

Cincinnati Opera Comes to Cedar Village
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation

Cincinnati Opera
Cedar Village's goal is to always enrich lives of our elders, the residents living at Cedar Village through special programming to meet their needs. Last week, residents had the wonderful opportunity to be entertained by a the Cincinnati Opera with the redux performance of “Porgy & Bess.” As one resident stated, "I cannot believe how wonderful Cedar Village is to me by providing me the chance to still experience the arts!"
Additionally, our residents had the wonderful experience of seeing and hearing the voices of students from the University of Cincinnati’s CCM perform as “Alysha & Friends.” From classic show tunes to a few original works, residents had a taste of Broadway in the comfort of Cedar Village.
In April, we will host the Cincinnati Shakespeare Theater with the performance of “In Love with Shakespeare.” It’s through the generosity of donors that Cedar Village is able to bring the arts to our residents as well as provide opportunities to take the residents to the theater.
This summer, we will take both healthcare residents as well as those living independently to the 2012 World Choir Games. How would you like to be a part of the magic? Please consider Cedar Village in your philanthropic endeavors.

Highlights - Summer through Yesterday
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation

Cedar Village's goal is to always enrich lives of our elders, the residents living at Cedar Village through special programming to meet their needs. In two weeks, residents will have the opportunity to be entertained by a the music group “One Voice” who not only performs songs of old and new, but provides residents with the lyrics to sing-a-long. Last year one comment received was, "the songs brought back so many wonderful memories of attending the theater in New York City."
Additionally, our residents had the wonderful experience of watching our Wii Bowling League win yesterday when we hosted two other retirement facilities in our newly created league.
This summer, we will host our 1st Annual Summer Concert in the “park” with the Buffalo Ridge Jazz Band. To see 80 and 90 year-old folks up on the dance floor was tremendous!
Funds helped sponsor exercise classes including Balance Class and chair aerobics, our new ceramics class and, jewelry-making classes where our residents enjoy making bracelets and necklaces for themselves and their family members.
Within a retirement community it is vital to provide engagement and stimulation for mind, body and spirit.
