Enriching Lives of Edlers
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation

Our residents’ lives continue to be enriched at Cedar Village. Popular classes include jewelry making, ceramics, and flower arranging. They participate in the bell choir, music therapy sessions, and the Cedar Village Choir.
Recently, the bell choir gave a special performance where some of their grandchildren and great grandchildren participated and sang some popular children’s songs accompanied by the bell choir. It was a very moving concert. “I really enjoyed being able to have this experience with my grandson,” said one resident.
The mission of Cedar Village is that aging is an enriching and fulfilling experience. Our residents’ days are enriched each day by the many activities in which they participate.

The Cedar Village residents and their family and friends enjoyed a wonderful 4th of July celebration in spite of the rain. The Annual Classic Car Show where residents have the opportunity to see and ride in vintage cars had to be modified. There were no rides, but residents braved the elements under umbrellas to view the cars. The afternoon featured a lively Dixieland band concert and everyone’s favorite ice cream—Graeter’s. The holiday also featured a 4th of July Parade of Homes where community members could visit residents’ apartments and then stay for all the festivities. Funds raised from this project are used to provide special concerts like the one the residents enjoyed on the 4th of July.

Resident Outings
By Sally Korkin | Executive Director, Cedar Village Foundation
Cedar Village's goal is to always enrich lives of our elders, the residents living at Cedar Village through special programming to meet their needs. Last week, residents had the wonderful opportunity to be entertained by Mandy Pantinkin at the Cincinnati Pops concert at the Cincinnati Music Hall. As one resident stated, "I cannot believe how wonderful Cedar Village is to me by providing me the chance to still experience the arts!"
Additionally, our residents had the wonderful experience of seeing and hearing the voices of students from the University of Cincinnati’s CCM perform as “Josh and Friends.” From classic show tunes to a few original works, residents had a taste of Broadway in the comfort of Cedar Village.
In March, we hosted the Cincinnati Shakespeare Theater with the performance of “In Love with Shakespeare.” It’s through the generosity of donors that Cedar Village is able to bring the arts to our residents as well as provide opportunities to take the residents to the theater.
