Our dear friends,
Many thanks for the support to our sponsorship program. We are happy with the progress and impact this program is making to our beneficiary students and their families.
Tumaini means hope in Swahili, and in this report, we focus on one of our beneficiaries: Tumaini. A brave and talented young girl currently in grade 3.
The sixth born in a family of 6 children, and just like her siblings, Tumaini’s education journey was cut short after the separation of her parents and had to drop out of school at grade two.
Her mother, a casual labourer, sought support from Upendo in 2024 so that her last born could continue with her education after spending one year out of school.
With Upendo’s support, Tumaini was readmitted to school in grade 2 last year and is currently doing very well. Our Social Worker also closely monitors her and the other beneficiaries’ progress in school and at home through home and school visits each term.
Regards,
Lemic
