Dear Friends of Upendo,
We are happy to contiue updating you on the progress of our dear beneficiaries supported by this project.
For this report, we highlight the encouraging story of one of our beneficiaries: Halima.
At 8 years, Halima had not started school. Halima is now in grade 1 curtesy of our sponsorship programme. She started school last year under the sponsorship of Upendo. Before being supported by Upendo, Halima and her 3 siblings had not been enrolled in school despite attaining the school going age.
Halima’s parents were not able to raise even the basic school admission levies charged in primary schools. After being admitted in school, Halima received a lot of support from her teachers and was able to quickly settle in school and even become one of the best students in her class.
She is a lovely young girl and loves school and her excellent performance is a testament of her determination and desire to pursue education and become a teacher and change her family’s situation.
