Educational Support to 40 Needy Children in Kilifi

Happy New Year and greetings from Upendo family,

Once again, thank you for your continued support to Upendo through making donations and also sharing our project with your networks.

We have so far raised US$ 1,444. In the last quarter of 2023, we received a total of 16 applications/requests for support from needy families in Kilifi. This year, we have so far received 17 applications/requests for support from needy families.

Our admission committee is currently vetting applicants. The vetting process involves several stages including the following:

a) Applicants submitting application documents;

b) Admission committee meeting with the applicants and documenting their stories;

c) Admission committee doing pre-home visits for assessment of the family's living conditions, etc;

d) Review of applications by admission committee;

e) Identifying families for support.

This process also involves meetings meetings with the Area Chief and Village Elders who know the families well and thus provide a strength to our new project.

The admission committee has so far visited 25 families and documented their stories and will sit to review the applications and awards sponsorship based on need.

This term and with the money received from GlobalGiving so far, Upendo will sponsors through school 7 students into schools within their locality. The other identified children for support will await as we continue to fundraise to support their education.
