Empowering Brick Kiln Children through Education

Joy Foundation has initiated a groundbreaking project to educate children of brick kiln workers in Pakistan. Our survey revealed over 200 brick kilns in our town, where children toil under harsh conditions to support their families.

The Plight of Brick Kiln Children

In Pakistan, 60% of brick kiln laborers are children, with 11,000 kilns nationwide, mostly in rural areas. Children are forced to work to maximize profit, as household heads are paid per brick produced. These children long to learn, but feel obligated to sacrifice for their families.

Joy Foundation's Intervention

With your support, we've established five two-hour schools for brick kiln children in different areas. Each school starts with 20 students (boys and girls), providing basic education and paving the way for formal education.

Joy Foundation starts work with Brick kiln works especially for their children's education. In the beginning we start with a survey in which we know that we have more than two hundred brick kilns in our town where many children are forced to work under very harsh conditions in Pakistan to help support their families. The heads of household are paid according to the number of bricks produced. Hence, the children are being forced to work to maximize profit. These children do not want to work at the kilns, but feel like they must sacrifice for their families. In Pakistan 60% of brick kiln laborers are children. There are 11,000 brick kilns in Pakistan, 90% of them in rural areas.

As we start projects with your support in different areas where we have brick kilns and we start five two hours schools for the children working on these brick kilns. In each school we start with twenty children which we have boys and girls and they will learn the basic education and then we start formal education for them. Still these children need many things for their better education but your timely support and help will make us able to give them better education.
