Living in a shanty of Saraswati Kunj slum of Gurugram with her widowed mother after migrating from Chhatarpur in MP, 11 years old Pratigya could never muster the courage to ask her mother to put her in school until the Education On Wheels (EOW) bus of Sukarya started going to her slum neighborhood for imparting education. Teachers of EOW while conducting survey on marginalized population in the area to locate their potential students interacted with Pratigya. Pratigya was immediately enrolled for the session of 2022-2023 for the remedial classes after much convincing to her mother. She paid much interest in getting educated and attended all the classes of EOW bus regularly with utmost attention. Pratigya passed the Open Basic Examination just after one year of receiving training through EOW. After counseling her mother, the teachers have enrolled her to the local government school this year. Currently, the rest of her three siblings Raja, Rani and Aarti are also students of Education On Wheels. Pratigya aspires to be a social worker ushering change in the society after growing up.
