education is the key
Quarter Report Foundation 22STARS Global Giving: May – June - July 2019
When a child gets an education it is able to get a bright future and see their dreams come true. When a child goes to school, it will not need to work in the stone quarry anymore and beg in the streets for food. It will have access to jobs, will be able to earn an income, escape child marriage, early pregnancies and be better educated about their health in order to avoid illnesses such as HIV contradiction. Education is the key to fight poverty and deceases. We are working with communities who fled from the war in Northern Uganda to areas in Kampala and Jinja and live in extreme poverty. Many children lost their parents and those who still have them cannot afford to send them to school.
BUDGET
In March 2019, we - the 22STARS Foundation- participated in the campaign of Global Giving to become partners of Global Giving. The advantage of being their partner is that we get access to new training tools that help us with our fundraisers and that we get access to a new network. The fees of Global Giving seem first sight quite high, however they often also match up donations, so we can already recover part of the costs made with that. Plus the access to their network allows us access to a big amount of resources.
We received 12.217 USD in donations through the Global Giving platform, which was after exchange10.994 euros, after paying for the processing fees and supporting fees we received end of April 9.718.18 euro on our bank account. Thank you very much everyone who has been donating! In this report, we will shortly explain to you how we have spent the donations that came in through Global Giving.
IMPACT
As we are not allowed to use any names from Global Giving, neither names of kids, neither names of sponors we can only describe to you what we have been doing with the donations.
With the first 2300 euro We paid school fees, uniforms and material for ONE SCHOOL TERM of 13 primary school children and 3 secondary school children who had lost their long-term sponsors.Then we paid for homework help for 135 children in Kampala.
Then with the next 2500 euro from long-term sponsors we paid for the schoolfees, uniforms and material for ONE FULL SCHOOL YEAR for the specific children they are sponsoring.
Then we received 4350 euro for our Eye – Program. We conducted eye testing with more than 200 people and handed out glasses and medicine. A more in depth report will follow once we have spent the full amount. We still remain with about 2000 euro as we still scheduled in more eye-operations and check ups.
Then we also remain with another 1038 euro to cover up the school fees of 12 children for term 3 2019 who have lost their sponsors.
