Help us to empower families in Uganda in 2023! Our mission is to empower families in Uganda to rise above poverty. We use an integrated approach and focus on the development of economic, social, natural, human, and cultural capital. 22STARS collaborates with communities in Acholi Quarter in the capital Kampala and Danida in Jinja, who live in extreme poverty after having fled conflict zones in Northern Uganda and neighbouring countries. With your donation we pay for meals and school fees.
The 22STARS KIDS projects are located in the Acholi Quarter in Kampala and Danida in Jinja, Uganda. Twenty years of civil war took a heavy toll on children. The parents of the 22STARS children in Acholi Quarter fled during the war with the LRA and Joseph Kony from Northern Uganda to Kampala to seek refuge. They ended up living in an area centered around several stone quarries. Even kids as young as 3 years old are crashing stones, they don't go to school and many have eye problems.
We send the children to school providing them with an education. We are currently sending 315 kids to school and with your help we want to increase this number! As many parents are illiterate and cannot help with homework we provide after school classes. In addition we check also the eyes of the kids. We have seen directly ourselves the positive impact that education has been making on the communities. By providing education and a holistic program to children we want to fight poverty & diseases.
By educating 300 kids at least 30.000 will be impacted. The children will be stopped from being used for child labour. They will have higher chances at the labour market and the risk of them getting married and pregnant at a young age will highly decrease. We keep a close eye on the children and their families and support them as much as we can. We provide eye treatment and glasses where necessary and give all kids after school education to help them with their homework.
