We've been having so much fun learning at Escuela Adelante we can't stop!

Kids have never been happier attending school and they love being a student at Adelante. Here they make meaningful, deep friendships. They play outside and learn side by side with Mother Nature. Eating fresh foods, belly, heart, and mind full, the love is bursting at the seams at this school. I have never seen a group of more pleasant children and kind adults. The energy is so calm, yet so vibrant and exhilarating that there's no other way to describe it except: It feels like home!

Building a bilingual school in Nicaragua, or anyone for that matter is no easy task. These students of ours give us every reason and motivation to move forward each day. And as we get further along the path of our development, deeper into our long-term goals, and closer to our Master Plan, we know that there's a greater purpose to the work we do in education. We can see it in the smiles of our students and the hearts of our families. Something great is happening at Escuela Adelante, and it's thanks to YOU!

Why do you say that it's thanks to you the donors that these children are as happy as can be at our school each day? Because without the subsidized tuition breaks we receive for the children in the form of recurring donors, and without the generous donations individuals give to the school, we wouldn't be able to provide such an outstanding education to our students. That is because as a low-cost, high-quality bilingual school we are dedicated not only to linguistic and cultural diversity but also socioeconomic! That means we welcome eveyone. We want students of all backgrounds to come together and learn under one roof.

We have found that our model of inclusivity makes for a more harmonious and happy school. We hope it will also lead to a more harmonious and happier world! Some of the fun activities we've done lately include: celebrate Halloween, create fraction pies, attend cooking class, hold science fairs, and much, much more! We will continue to send and spread the positive news that we have about the school. Even though these continue to be trying and different times because of Covid-19, we have shown that we are more than just a name. Adelante in Spanish means Moving Forward and we are our name. Thank you!

Our donors are our superheroes!

Thanks to you we have been building a bilingual school in Nicaragua that continues to grow. This year we inaugurated our first primary school classrooms. But, we still have so far to go! Because many Nicaraguans do not graduate the 6th grade, which marks the end of primary school here, the stability of our school is so important!! We need your support to complete the campus.

Our school provides high-quality education to all students regardless of their ability to pay. But now we need your help to build out our dynamic 6 classroom primary school. We must finish and funrish two more classrooms by January in tme for the new school year. We still need desks, chairs, tables, and bookcases.

Our families and students have shown commitment since preschool, and year after year return to campus for another season of learning. Our donors' commitment is thus equally as important in a country ravaged by poverty.

We are asking you to consider donating on ***July 14th*** for July Bonus Day to this project! Mark your calendar and set your alarm because matching funds go fast and the campaign begins at 9:00 am EST! Only donations of $100 and up will receive a match. The higher the donation, the higher the match!

When we invest in education, we can all feel like superheroes. Let's work together to keep our promise for the future of this community, this country, and this planet. Thank you!

Thank you for making Escuela Adelante possible.

Escuela Adelante knows perseverance. It knows hard work. And it knows the importance of a dream.

We are working around the clock to keep children safely in-person for on-site learning during this devastating Covid-19 global outbreak. Learning to live alongside this infectious disease has been a serious challenge for children worldwide, but we look forward to implementing additional strategies at Escuela Adelante as new research brings new findings to light.

For example, we dream of hiring an all-important school nurse, as well as a distance learning specialist, and building an additional outdoor learning space. We know that these proposed advances would not only help stop the spread of Covid-19, but also benefit the greater student population as a whole. On a positive note, what we see happening now is the merging of technology, the English language and education -- all just what Nicaraguans need most at this time.

Our stance on Covid-19 as an educational institution is that we must learn to adapt to a changing world and whenever possible keep schools open for in-person learning to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral health of students. We must provide food security for especially at-risk families and populations through our school meal program. The show must go on -- safely.

In order to keep up with the demands of our growing student body, and increasingly long wait list to enter, we must continue with the ongoing construction of our campus. Running a bilingual school in Nicaragua is no easy feat. Building one literally from the dirt ground on can be even trickier when we face such an unprecedented global health crisis.

Which is why we need donor support now more than ever to invest in more personnel and infrastructure. This is an ongoing project that requires recurring donors to continue to give until the campus project is complete. Next year we will go to 5th grade which is an amazing accomplishment for students and staff alike. Let us continue to grow and expand by donating towards the construction of the primary school classrooms or towards our other dreams above. We thank everyone who has given in the past. Without your support this project would not be possible!

To all of our friends and supporters: THANK YOU for seeing us through 2020! We are so happy to be in 2021 with our school, our students, and the future ahead of us. We know that many children could not return to the physical classroom, and we know that it affects them academically, socially, and emotionally. Teachers around the world rock for doing incredible everyday work with their students.

Here in Nicaragua, we are starting our 2021 school year on-site again on January 18th. We follow a typical Nicaraguan calendar school year. We are excited about some new teachers, a new grade, and even two new classrooms.

Families are continuing to register. Though these are still trying and difficult times in Nicaragua, Escuela Adelante remains a beacon of hope and a way out of poverty. We really believe in the power of education and know first-hand how it can uplift families.

Our TOEFL and College prep course will soon start back up. Our teens still dream of attending top universities and are working to one day become professional doctors, teachers, lawyers, and more. Escuela Adelante not only bridges a gap linguistically and culturally between locals and foreigners, but it is a bridge where the public school system leaves off. We provide ESL for local students who are too old to attend Adelante at this time. They depend on our school to provide an alternative, innovative education.

Our classes uplift everyone who participates, students, teachers, and parents alike. Thanks to your support we now have two new classrooms with furniture to start off the year. Did we mention they each have a Smart TV so that teachers can integrate new learning during the Covid-19 pandemic? We wouldn't want all that technical knowledge to go to waste. Every experience builds off of the last and is a learning tool for us as a school.

So thank you to all of you who also powered through 2020. Way to go, and let's keep learning and growing together. Ensure a better future for the world and donate today to Help Build a Bilingual School!

Why is fundraising right now so important? Because a lack of education in Central America is one of the most important reasons families suffer from malnutrition, poverty, and domestic violence. We must ban together to provide a voice to children and a safe space to grow into happy and thriving adults.  Little by little, our donors have helped us do just that, as we continue to expand Escuela Adelante, a bilingual school in Nicaragua.

Our most pressing need, as we launch 4th grade in January 2021, is more classrooms. As we add a grade level each year to our school, we run out of enough space to teach our student body! It is more urgent than ever that we work together, as Escuela Adelante supporters, to ensure that our students carry on successfully into the primary school years in their separate classrooms.

We want to enter the new year with infrastructure to safely and effectively instruct primary school students. We have taken steps to get there. The architectural renderings are complete. Our two-classroom pod structures with rooftop "terrazas" and additional outdoor learning space in-between will lead to lots of innovation and advancement. The school's location in nature makes it idyllic and inspirational. We plan on building three of these two-classroom pods for grades 1 - 6 of primary school.

Escuela Adelante is diverse, colorful, and creative. We work with low-income local families in Nicaragua to provide free and low-cost bilingual education. We have made an effort to allow for extra support for families during the Covid-19 pandemic. On September 1st, we launched a partial reopening with rotating schedules and small groups. We couldn't be happier to see students, even if it is under a mask for now!

From September 14th to 18th, GlobalGiving will host the Little by Little campaign. We want to ask supporters to consider making a small donation to our project: Help Build a Bilingual School. GlobalGiving will match all donations up to $50 by 50% for five days straight. Any new monthly donations will receive an additional 100% match on top of that. You give a little, and we get a lot! Little by little, primary school, here we come!
