Project Report | Jul 20, 2023
Early years are vital years

By Michele Comber | Project Manager

We appreciate your ongoing support for this project.

We focus on SDG 4: Quality Education and in particular, target 4.2.

Target 4.2.  focuses on Quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education. The goal is that by 2030, all children have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-education so that they are ready for primary education. Our project strives to support this.

Early childhood education focuses on the overall development of children, including their cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Providing quality early learning experiences through play can help children develop essential skills and abilities that will benefit them throughout their lives.

A key part of our project is that we facilitate Learning Through Play sessions.  There are three sessions per week each for 3.5 hours. They target children two to five years of age.  The sessions have numerous benefits. They:

  • provide important opportunities for young children to learn and develop in a social context
  • teach young children about communication
  • support the development of motor skills
  • provide experiences where children can engage with and learn about problem solving.

Let's take an example, stacking and knocking over wooden blocks allows young children to practice their physical skills, develop eye-hand coordination, learn patience, share with others, learn about balance and practice counting. A lot of skills develop in one simple activity.

Other learning through play activites we provide a good range of developmental experiences whether it is learning action songs, painting and drawing, listening to stories, sharing books or navigating a simple obstacle course.

Another important aspect of the Learning Through Play program is that it supports young children's  transition to school.  The social aspect of interacting with classmates, experiencing a learning environment, learning to take turns or listening to others are all important developments.  The benefits of language development in these situations can also not be understated.

Your supports means that we can provide a range of play and learning materials for the children to help enhance their holistic development and provide a fun and interactive play environment for children.

We value your support and thankyou for contributing to the development of these young learners.

Thank you.
