Our work focuses on SDG 4: Quality Education. This target aims to ensure that by 2030, all children have access to quality early childhood development, care, and pre-primary education, so they are well-prepared for primary education. We also strive to enhance education in different forms and in different contexts.

Here are some recent examples of our work.

Our Education team conducted a presentation and workshop on Early Childhood Development to the mothers and children village of Natadradave. Education staff and interns led informational presentations, conducted surveys, provided lesson suggestions by age groups, and organized a drawing workshop
Our Health Team delivered a workshop to local primary school students on wound care and first aid
Education and Marine teams joined forces to teach the Marine Conservation Club at Navunisea District School the children learned about phytoplankton and zooplankton through educational videos, a quiz, and a coloring activity!
We facilitated 1:1 and small group sessions with children in our local areas, supporting growth and learning.
Our Learning Through Play program, which includes three weekly sessions, offers a broad range of developmental experiences, including action songs, painting and drawing, storytelling, sharing books, and navigating obstacle courses.

Your generous support enables us to provide high-quality play and learning materials that foster children’s holistic development and create a fun, interactive environment for them to thrive.

Engaging children to enjoy education

We are grateful for your continued support of our education project, which enables us to provide valuable assistance to a group of young learners.

Early education is crucial for children's development. Offering a variety of experiences where children can explore, experiment, learn new words, socialize, and create fosters a holistic approach to child development.

These foundational skills and experiences form the basis for a child's growth and development as they progress to their school years. Our Learning Through Play program focuses on children aged 3-4 years and offers a valuable opportunity for children in the village.

Our team enjoy making the most of special occasions for example in the lead up to Easter we engaged children in a range of fun activities to develop their skills and embrace the Easter spirit. We also ran holiday programs to engage students in a range of activities.

As adults, we can structure play scenarios to facilitate a child's growth and development. For example, providing blocks for children to play with helps them develop hand-control skills as they pick up and arrange the blocks, problem-solving skills as they build towers, sharing skills as they interact with others, and persistence as they work to build without the structure collapsing. Throughout these experiences, adults can interact by helping them count blocks or pointing out colors, turning these activities into valuable learning opportunities within a play environment.

Another aspect of our preschool program is reading stories. Through stories, children learn to listen, imagine, and comprehend. They expand their vocabulary and learn that words have meaning, laying an important foundation for developing literacy skills in their school years.

Your support allows us to provide a range of resources for children to play and explore, leading to valuable learning opportunities. Children learn in different ways and at different rates, so having a variety of resources enables us to cater to the diverse needs of children in the playgroup. It also allows us to build a robust collection of books and stories to help children enjoy reading and develop their literacy skills.

We thank you for your donations, which help us purchase supplies and resources to ensure young children have a range of opportunities for development.
