Refresher training is in session for the teachers of the 10 BRAC schools in the Lakes State of Southern Sudan. Huddled in a hut, 10 women are reviewing the next lesson plan. It'll be time for reading and multiplication for the 300 students who attend these schools, and will enter the final year of their pre-primary course.
Southern Sudan is preparing to hold it's referendum for independence in January 2011. The feeling of hope, of being able to control their own destiny is very real for the people of Southern Sudan, and more so for the teachers attending the refresher training. They are educating the generation whose responsibility it will be to take this war torn region into an era of hope and prosperity. The teachers are aware of their role in molding that generation, and the work that BRAC Southern Sudan is doing to support this not-yet-born nation. We thank you for your support.
