Aya is 26 and training to be a pastry chef at Yarani School in Côte d'Ivoire. She's in her second year on a scholarship.
Before Yarani, she'd left school and was working in a village restaurant, helping her mother cover daily costs. She nearly turned the scholarship down. She didn't want to go.
"When I was told that coming to Yarani would allow me to help her even more in the future, I decided to come."
It changed things she hadn't expected. She speaks in front of people now. In her first year, her classmates chose her to lead their team in an entrepreneurship competition. She goes home in the holidays and teaches others. Her mother's eyes, she says, shine with joy.
"Today, I am able to dream."
Your donations support a programme in Côte d'Ivoire working with women and girls in rural communities. Hundreds of local women have completed business and life skills training, gaining the tools to earn independently and grow their own businesses. A newly built crèche gives children access to safe childcare, so their mothers can work and train too.
Thank you.
