Summary

Millions of students in rural China lack quality education. In our efforts to combat this problem, we aim to provide students with the skills needed to thrive in the real world. Help us raise $8000 USD to provide scholarships to 8 underprivileged students so that they are able to continue their high school and college education. All donations will go towards scholarships, educational resources, and EFA Operations.

Challenge

Despite the wisdom of our past leaders, education inequality is an underrepresented world issue in society. The lack of educational resources worldwide perpetuates the cycle of poverty by providing inadequate skills to millions of students. After becoming adults, these students lack the required skills to lift themselves out of poverty, thereby ending up impoverished. Mirroring their parents, they are unable to provide their own children with quality education and the cycle persists.

Solution

(1) The funds raised through this project will provide scholarships to students who are unable to attend high school and college despite their qualifications and desire to learn. (2) EFA provides online interactive English courses for impoverished schools through bi-weekly video conference lessons. Our lessons develop English fluency within students, and consist of a curriculum that takes a hands-on approach of engaging students with English.

Long-Term Impact

(1) EFA's scholarships will secure higher education for those who cannot afford it and prevent them from being trapped in the cycle of poverty. (2) By educating students to be proficient English speakers, EFA's students are able to communicate with western countries, where opportunities lie. They also have a better chance to get jobs and lift themselves out of poverty. As of 2020, EFA has expanded teaching operations to 4 rural Chinese schools, and currently serves over 150 students.
