Under this project, tribal children of Kokani Warli are supported at Chafyacha Pada about 6km from Goregaon Railway Station, Aarey Colony, Mumbai. The area comprises of villages where mostly leopards and other wild animals restrict education of the children. Despite being nearest to the city this place has no basic amenities and children drop out of school at a very tender age to take care of their family and younger siblings. Parent’s illiteracy is at very high level, parents are engaged with domestic labour work and children are helping parents for their survival. To help these children to be educated everyday educational classes are conducted for 2-3 hours for these children along with sports and extracurricular activities. The children attend School at Aarey colony. The staff regularly meet parents for counselling sessions at their home to ensure and encourage parents to send their children to school and update them on the achievements of children. During the academic year 2017-2018, 31 out of 36 children of SAMPARC this Project have successfully passed their final examination which is a very good achievement of children who never showed interest in academics. Also the newly started project has been able to increase confidence levels of children as compared to when they newly joined the Centre.
