DONATE HERE to support more girls like Genesis.
Genesis lives with her mother, who is a seamstress, and her grandmother. When Genesis dreamed of being a doctor, her mother and grandmother tried to discourage her as they did not have the income necessary to support Genesis at the university. Medicine requires much dedication and the expense of equipment, books and transportation. Her aunts and uncles also tried to discourage her because of the expense and the fact that she was a girl.
However, Genesis was determined and took the demanding exams for entrance to the state university, the UMSA, which is free if you can pass the rigorous exams. Genesis passed the exams and looked for support which she found in Helping Hands.
Genesis is now in her second year of Medicine and passed all of her courses, but the happiest part for her is that now her mother, grandmother, aunts and uncles all encourage her and are proud of her accomplishments.

Dear Donors on GlobalGiving,
2018 was a great year for our GlobalGiving girls. Thanks to your support, four of our girls graduated from high school and are now furthering their studies. We are very pleased to report that Leidy earned a scholarship to study a 3 year university technical program in Entrepreneurship at the prestigious Universidad Catolica Boliviana. Nataly passed the exams and has now begun Veterinary Medicine, also at the Universidad Catolica Boliviana in their rural program. Jessica has begun her 3 year program of studies in Gastronomy at the Instituto Nueva Bolivia and Yoselin has begun her studies in Business Administration at the Universidad Central. We are so proud of these girls.

Two of the GlobalGiving girls finished their post-secondary studies. Esther completed her three year program in Early Childhood Education and Ayde completed her coursework for Commercial Engineering. She will finish her thesis this year. Congratulations to these two girls and a heartfelt thanks to all our donors who have made this possible.
Esther Ayde
This year, 2019, four more of our GlobalGiving girls will be finishing their post-secondary studies in Nursing, Gastronomy, Special Education, and Early Childhood Education.
We can all be very proud of our girls who have overcome so many disadvantages to make it this far. The opportunity to have a profession is a life changer for our girls who come from very vulnerable backgrounds. Their future and that of their families is so much brighter.
THANKS SO MUCH TO ALL OF OUR DONORS WHO ARE MAKING THIS POSSIBLE.
If you are interested in receiving the accounting for the GlobalGiving funds for 2018, please write to lindazaratehhp@hotmail.com and we will be happy to send it to you.
Of course, we will continue to support our girls this year 2019 as they progress in their studies. Donations are so very welcome at Give the Gift of Education to 31 Bolivian Girls (35024) as we wish to raise another $10,000 in 2019 to keep 31 GlobalGiving girls in school.
MUCHOS SALUDOS DESDE LA PAZ
We wish you a Happy Healthy New Year 2019
News
Meet our 34 students who graduated or finished their coursework this year. Congratulations to all our students!!
SUCH AN EXCITING YEAR!! 9 of our high school students graduated from secondary school and 14 post-secondary students finished their studies with Helping Hands in 2018.
As well, 11 of our students from 2016 and 2017 defended their thesis and graduated formally. In Bolivia an undergraduate student “egresses” from the university after finishing his/her coursework, but must then do a thesis and defend it in order to graduate and receive a diploma or title. This can take up to two years more for students of scarce economic means. The Bolivian system is tedious and demands years of sacrifice and hard work from the students, especially those living in precarious situations.
HOW YOU CAN HELP THIS MONTH
Thanks to the support from our sponsors and donors via GlobalGiving, 30 of our 31 GlobalGiving girls completed successfully their school year. 2 of the post-secondary girls, Esther and Ayda, finished their programs of study in Early Childhood Education and Commerce, and another 5 will finish this year 2019.
Of our GlobalGiving high school students, 4 finished high school this year and one girl, Leidy, has been accepted into a university scholarship program. Another student, Nataly, is hoping to begin Veterinary studies in February. 2 of the girls are still deciding on what to study.
We thank you all so very much for your support that has allowed our Globalgiving girls to do so well. With 15 new girls coming into the project, we are in need of funding for 2019. Please consider a onetime donation or a monthly donation to help support our girls. Click here to help us continue our support for these girls.

Thanks to our donors and to GlobalGiving, 31 of our girls have now been supported for 2018. However, 24 of these girls will be continuing with Helping Hands for 2019 and new girls will begin. Many of our sponsors and contributors have asked how they could donate monthly. With GlobalGiving it’s easy! From Nov. 27 to Dec. 31 2018 recurring monthly donations will be matched by GlobalGiving on the first donation. If you would like to contribute monthly to Helping Hands, please click here.
