Children participated in cultural activity
Children participated in cultural activity

All the 300 children are shining with new thoughts and set goals individually with the facilitation of teachers who has been working hard in the project for the children.

On 14th November on occasion of children’s day, children actively participated in cultural and extracurricular activities organized by the schools. Around 40 children participated in “dancing and singing” competitions and won 9 children prizes; in “essay writing” two girls got the 1and 2 prizes. In drawing competition 2nd prize won by our child and school appreciated winners of the prizes. One girls Ramulamma got 1st rank in the school from her half-yearly examinations.

5 Teachers and 8 volunteers visited 170 selected children homes and interacted with the parents and given orientation to parents towards the importance of education. Because these children are absent more than 2 days  in the school in this quarter and project management team decided to organize camp to meet the parents at their homes. This camp given encouragement to the parents and children.

Apart from 300 children , 6 students from 10th standard in Machilipatnam,  approached ARV to join with our children to clarify their doubts in all subjects. Since children are very poor background agreed them to attend tutoring classes.

Thanks to all the donors, volunteers  and globalgiving for their continious support in the project implimentation. As ARV is being facing challenges in mobilising resources to support all the children. New children are increasing to attend the tutoring centers and seeking support .

In recent assessment, ARV board members appreciated all the children and teachers who are tutoring children every day and motivating their parents. It was so good experience that  some of new members and volunteers to see the program. They have also expressed their tratitude to all the team members of GlobalGiving.

With the support of all the donars , we are taking care of girls who lost their parents and supporting their full amont of fee to continue their studies. In all the tutoring centers all the children are going to school and improving their standards. 15 children got special prises in their schools in recent examinations.

18 times invited expert teachers to present technics to improve their memory in their studies and particularly in doing mathmatics. Distributed material on general knowledge and moral values. It was so excited to see the response of parents and neighboring villages. This special care on children education inspired other children and asking to start tutoring centers in their villages but we are not in a position to expand  the education centers. There is need in the villages as education is very expensive for rural poor children and they are approaching us.

Around 60 tribal children are getting monthly scholarship with the support of staring no more fecilitated by Robin Chow. The scholarship amount are using the food and school supplies for all the children.

Government officials in the village of Kandrika visited the our tutoirng center and enquired , who are supporting the children and asked teachers to meet them in their office. Later ARV team members met the officials and expressed their happiest movements and promised to give uniform to all the children in next year.

Emenrgency need of donors on the basis of recorring on monthly basis so that we will ensure to conntnue the centers as we are struggling to support all the children. On behalf of ARV we thank all athe donors for their continues support.

 Rural Children have no access to quality education and recent data is talking about children education in Andhra Pradesh state as follows;

  1. Enrollment of Dalith (Scheduled Caste) children in the 1st standard is 100%, but it falls to 79.72% at 8th standard.
  2. School dropout rate at 6th standard is 23.91%, at 8th standard is 24.79% and at 10th standard is 34.99%.
  3. Enrollment of Adivasi/ tribals (Scheduled Tribe) children at 1st standard is100%, at 7th standard is 67.71% and at 10th standard is 47.71%.
  4. Dropout rate at 6th standard is 19.11%, at 8th standard is 49.80% and at 10th standard is 60.37%.

In this above context,  ARV has been seen tremendous response from the communities ( parents) as their children who are school dropouts’ are now going regularly to the school. More over there are 11 tribal children  started going to school at Machilipatnam with the inspiration of 35 students. Now the entire tribal colony children are going to school and getting scholarship monthly along with school supplies.  ARV staff every day  go to the village and ensure all the children go to school.

ARV team convinced and motivated two girls parents to send their daughters to the High School. Because they rejected to send them school as the school is far from the village and expressed insecurity towards girls. Finally we succeeded to join them in High school and we are trying to buy two cycles for two girls to go school if any donor comes forward

All 300 children are going to school after summer vacation and all the children are promoted and passed the classes. GlobalGiving volunteer interacted with children and explained how to mobilise resources and to capacitate with Globalgiving team.

Two girls selected and got National Cadet Corps certificates in their schools. Their parents are so happy and expressed gratitude to ARV being taking care of children continuelsly.

Teachers from Tutoring centers are taken challenge to capacitate them in communication skills and current affairs on weekly basis.

Since there is a need to support the children for their education , we invite corporates, agencies, individuals to support children education. Many villagers are requesting ARV to support their village children.

Thanks for all the supporters.

ARV team has been identified 35 tribal children who are not going to school and accompanying parents to collect waste materials to sell for recycling. All the children belonging to Narayanapuram Yanadi colony, before going to school these children go outside along with their parents to collect waste and sell to recycling for survival and earn around 150 rupees per 2days thus the average monthly income of the family is around Rs. 1,500 per month (around Rs. 75/- per day).  The family has to survive on this meagre income.  These families did not have a Ration Card to get subsidised foodgrains under Public Distribution System.   They were unable to eat at least two meals a day as their income is not sufficient to buy foodgrains for the entire family.  Most of the days, the families depends on the food collected by their children by begging, Although these children joined in schools but still they are going to collect food by begging for their morning breakfast.  In the total of 95 families 4 are working as PH workers in municipality, 20 families depends on fishing and remaining all are depends on collecting waste materials and sell for recycling sometimes they also do works like drainage and septic tanks cleaning without any machinery, there was no access to drinking water also they collect and store water from municipality tanks that too weekly twice. Due to lack of proper toilet system in the colony they do open defecation in front of their houses. At present these families are living in houses provided by government which are not in good condition they are almost damaged.

5 children from our children education centers appeard for 10th standard examinations and all have secured good marks and passed . They are now prepareing to join in 11th standard.

Spoken english materials distributed to 15 members  who are intrested in learning english language.

ARV organised Community Counseling program about children's education at Narayanapuram ST Colony, Machilipatnam. ARV invited Krishna district tribal welfare department officer  on this occasion  distributed notebooks and bags for 35 school dropout children. He said that each and every parent should send their children to school without fail for their good future and development.

We are indeed thanked to Starving No More being supporting 52 children for their education through scholarships on monthly basis. There are 4 children education tutoring centers running and providing more than 300 children education with the appointed qualified teachers. But now we are in tough time to run the centers as there are no adequate resources to pay salaries for teachers and school supplies for children. If we don't mobilise resources to run the education centers there is no way to continue the program. Hence requesting all the donors to support once again and share this information to your wellwishers.

Children smiles are giving strength to ARV to see their improvements and doing hard work almost all the children with the support of Globalgiving. They are gaining confidence in themselves and are not only improving in their studies but also in their overall development. They are participating in extracurricular activities like sports, singing and dancing. The children coming to Tutoring Centers from different areas by walk as they cannot afford a means of transport due to their poverty ridden circumstances. But the interest of the students to study does not waver as they showed tremendous potential.

She visited the Chevuru and Kandrika Centres, interacted with the children and the parents and explained on the importance of education, nutritious food, health and sanitation. She urged the women to send their children regularly to school as it leads to a better way of life.

The children are showing outstanding progress not only in academics but also in sports and other curricular activities. When the ARV team visited the Centre, it was happy to find that many of the children secured good marks in their exams. Even the parents were surprised and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity that ARV provided to their children to improve their studies.

Achievements of the students in this quarter:

Ten children from all classes in the centres secured Class first in their respective classes. Eight students secured first prize in various extracurricular competitions like Elocution, Essay Writing, Drawing and Quiz Competitions conducted in commemoration of Indian Republic Day on January 26th 2017. Two children won first prize in sports competitions. One student secured Second Rank in the International Olympiad of Science from her school. All the children irrespective of their background and school, are making use of the after-school  supplementary education in the centres, gaining confidence in themselves, securing good marks, showing improvement from month to month, and working for their overall betterment. The interest and competitive spirit of the children strengthening  ARV to work more with the children and provide better facilities in education for their betterment.

There are many children are in need of counseling and continuous motivation to continue the school. ARV not in position to support all the children with inadequate resources. Expecting from donors and other stakeholders to think and extend support as well as share with others. Thanks to the Gol
