Education for 300 Indigenous Children in India

Proud to say that parental care has been increased towards their children education. Parents approaching ARV staff and teachers along with children to discuss their progress and abilities. It was good sign to measure the involvement of the parents and see the importance of education.

Now the parents are bringing pressure to provide computer education for their children. This quarter ARV focused specially on “Handwash Awareness Campaign” to all the children and children participated actively with fun. 12 teachers motivated all the children about their health and heigenic , moral values and how to protect from heat weaves from this hot summer.

All the children are writing their examinations for all the standards in their schools. Children are busy in completion of their academic year and also excited to take summer vacation.

10^th Standard children completed their examinations and waiting for their result. 20 children are expecting result and join in Junior colleges in couple of months.

The organization is facing financial challenges to run the project and trying to get few more recurring donors so that it will help monthly to pay the teachers’ salaries and support the children. Requesting one time donors to join hands with small amount monthly basis to strengthen the project and change the lives of children.

In this quarter, made efforts continuously for all the children on educational values. Most of the children have understood, responded well and attending school. In their recent examinations from all the subjects children are getting good results and shining with new thoughts.

In November 2018 ARV organised Community Counseling program. About 50 families’, more than 80 children got awareness on importance of education and how to keep surroundings in hygienic conditions. More than 30 parents come forward to join their children in school in coming year. We felt very happy and planning to conduct such kind of counseling programs in slum locations around us.

ARV team visiting schools and monitoring children progress in their studies. It is giving good result and satisfied, however need to put continues monitoring efforts to establish child monitoring mechanism.

Parents appreciated ARV for monitoring the children to send them to school on regular basis and running the counseling for children and parents.

A “7 years” girl child from Narayanapuram colony showed her joy towards ARV and all supporters through her beautiful smile, it shows that she has been feeling grateful towards donors and ARV team being supporting her education. While we enquired at school, teachers said that although that girl coming to school from few months but her level of talent in grasping lesions is very good. Also said that there are many children improving knowledge, attending regularly and understanding educational values.

 Finally we thank “GlobalGiving” and all the Donors who have been part of the project and being supporting the future of the children by providing education, we are looking forward to get more support in such a way that we can motivate and educate more number of children who are in need.

Facing Challenges in supporting all the children by providing school supplies, fees and scholarships. Putting continues efforts to raise donations from individuals but not able to reach the goal. Motivated over all 78 children in this quarter and given counseling to their parents. Children living conditions and circumstances are not allowing to concentrate on studies and feeling sick very often. 

Interacted with 15children and parents to understand the impact of scholarship and the attitude of children. The children are going to school regularly, but the parents are expecting scholarship for their children to go to school because, the parents are illiterates and living in unhygienic, poor living conditions with meager wages/income by working and selling waste materials collected on streets.

The school teachers are explaining to the Volunteers and ARV team about how the children are studying in the school. She showed the progress reports of the children and appreciated ARV for monitoring the children to send them to school on regular basis. However there are children not going regularly to school due to several reasons. ARV is researching on issues of school drop outs and the attitude of parents and children.

Appreciated a girl who stood 1st in her class in scoring high marks in mathematics, science and English.13 children got fee support to continue the school and parents are expressed their gratitude.

 Many rural children are approaching to enrole their names to monitor and guide children career and requested us to provide computer education. In rural schools , there is no computer education and children are excited to learn. Seeking supporters to donate computers for children.

The activities went very well in this quarter and we are happy that 290 children passed their examinations. In May 2018 10th standard results got declared by the government, We glad to share that all our 17 10th standard students from our 4 centers secured 100% Result in their Exams. 3 out of 17 students secured 95% in all subjects and remaining 14 students secured 85% in all subjects. In summer vacation ARV team conducted awareness Campaign on education in and around the Narayanapuram Village, the main theme of the campaign is each and every drop out child should join in the school, by the result 16 new students from Narayanapuram joined in Municipal Elementary school.

ARV team convinced and motivated parents to send their daughters to the High School. Because they are not willing to send girls to school as the school is far from the village and expressed insecurity towards girls. Finally we succeeded to join them in High school as ARV agreed accompany one staff to take care of them for time being till they feel comfort to go school on their own. In their tradition  early girl child marriages are in practice . There are girls in the village married at the age of 13.  ARV motivated that the  early marriages are not good and it is against law and also crime. Though it is against the law , still early marriage are  practicing in most of the tribal villages.

On 26th June,  ARV distributed School Supplies like Bags, Books and Stationary to 70 poor students at Narayanapuram tribal Colony. Paid 28 students fee when they were unable to pay fee and absent in the school. ARV team met the school management and paid fee and given assurance that ARV pay continuously for their studies.

There is need for many children to take care of their education and even health as they are suffering very often from fever and diarrhea as they are living in unhygienic conditions and taking contaminated water. All the 300 children are going to school and we are not in a position to provide school supplies for all the children. We are expecting recurring donations to support children on regular basis and we are grateful to the existing donors for their kind support. Though donation is small , recurring will help children to study continuously.

 In case we did not get support from Globalgiving in last quarter the organization –ARV would not have shown great result and able to continue the education for all the children. A big thanks to Globalgiving team for their timely support.

Glad to share quarterly progress in children education and all the children completed their acadamic year and promoted next classes in all the education centers.

In this quarter 16 new children joined in two centers and prepared for their examinations. They have clarified their doubts and parents were so happy and appreciated.

Every month ARV distributing scholarships to 59 poor and needy children for their school needs and nutritious food. Parents are happy and expressed their gratitude being taking support for their children education. One of parent Sanjeevulu said that without scholarship we would not have sent my daughter to the school. It is so happy to see every day ARV volunteers come to homes and prepare our children to send them school. On April 2018, ARV visited 4 centers and spoken with the children about the summer vacation special classes on “spoken English” to improve their communication skills, all the children felt happy and shown their willingness to join and participate in the summer Spoken English program. The summer course will start from 20th May onwards for the interested children.

On February 2018 ARV team with cooperation of Rev. George Cornelious visited ZP High School in Jayanthi Village, Kanchikacherla Mandal, Krishna Dt and distributed new clothes and exam stationeries to 20 poor 10th standard students.

Educating children with more values and assessing their knowledge by asking questions as group in the school. Volunteer is counseling parents towards their attendance and usage of scholarship. Children are doing their homework and sharing their views with other children in the class. We are indeed thankful to Globalgiving for their efforts to mobilize donations to continue children education.

Government officials appreciated services provided by Association of Relief Volunteers to the children to change the lives.
