In our last update we talked about the improvements we've made to Besh Kapa Surkh school, sadly due to the ongoing conflict in the nearby areas we've had to temporarily close the school till it is safe for our students to return. However we still have over 1,000 students enrolled in Mullah Karim Nazar school and another 700 enrolled in our at home literacy programs so while even though one of our schools is temporarily closed we are educating close to 2,000 students in Afghanistan alone.
Meet Abdul, age 8 enrolled in 2nd grade at Mullah Karim Nazar school. Hi father is a driver and his mother is a stay at home mom. He has three brothers and two sisters, luckily all of his siblings are currently enrolled in school. Abdul's favorite subject is languages. When he grows up Abdul dreams of being an engineer.
Abdul is lucky in the fact that his family supports him gaining an education however, with five other siblings to support his family may one day have to choose between supporting the family and allowing Abdul to reach his dream of becoming an engineer. Without our schools Abdul and his siblings would not be able to gain a high school level education and would never be able to go on to university to pursue their dream careers. We are working on the doors back open on Besh Kapa Surkh but in the meantime there are thousands of students like Abdul with dreams trying to gain an education every day.
