This project will help support our two existing schools, Mullah Karim Nazar School and Besh Kappa Surkh School, that offer free education to children in Andkhoy, Afghanistan.
There's an estimated 8.3 million children enrolled in school in Afghanistan, but that's only about 50% of the of the children that are eligible to go to school. Many of the children are in the mountainous region of the country near where our schools are located. By offering free tuition to every student regardless of background or age we are able to make it possible for them to gain an education they never would have been able achieve before.
Barakat provides, books, supplies, uniforms and basic medical care to young children in rural Afghanistan so they can gain an education and improve their lives and the lives of those around them.
Our Afghan schools educate 1,700 children every year, each year of school the students receive the better chance they have of helping to lift their families out of poverty, which in turn helps to better the community that they live in.
