Education Empowerment for Kenya's Slum Adolescents

Expanding Access to Education
- Awarded over 200 scholarships to high school and TVET students, ensuring that bright, underprivileged adolescents continue their education without financial barriers.
- HKSAI launched a robust mentorship program, reaching more than 5,000 youth with peer-to-peer education on leadership, SRHR, and personal development. To increase accessibility to safe spaces for young people, HKSAI opened a new office in Eldoret.
- In its efforts to expand reach, HKSAI recently launched its own Technical Training Center in Kibera to equip adolescents with practical skills in ICT, digital design, web development, and cosmetology—positioning them for employment or sole entrepreneurship.
- HKSAI expanded its staffing at the beginning of the year for improved efficiency. This allows the organization to accommodate students on practice and internship programs
- We have submitted 6 proposals since the beginning of the year, aimed at resource mobilization for sustained programming towards access to quality education.
- HKSAI has indirectly reached more about 12,482 beneficiaries.

HKSAI Report

The project has so far supported about 183 young girls from Kenya's theinformal settlement to acquire education by paying their tuition fees.
Through this project we reached about 4,114 adolescents and young people with mentorship and empowerment engagements, promoting conversations around mental health sexual and reproductive health and climate challenges among others.
The project has since expanded and we are truly grateful for your unwavering support. Beginning January 02, 2025, we started our own Learning Centre, with about 12 adolescent girls currently enrolled for computor classes. This is a milestone we celebrate with our partners and funders. We evision an extention and additional courses before the end of year.
We have been able to extent our admissions into universities, beyond admissions into tertiary colleges.
HKSAI has grown its staff as well as its volunteers

Education Empowerment for Kenya Slum Adolescents

HKSAI continues to support our vulnerable adolescent girls in Kenya. Since the beginning of 2024, the organization has admitted 28 vulnerable girls in secondary schools and 39 young girls in technical training institutions in Kenya. Our center is not yet fully functional for lack of resources.
The organization has also conducted 3 mentorship activities including a tree planning vent in collaboration with the County government of Uasin Gishu.
Three of our beneficiaries graduated from Nairobi College of Bread and Confectionery Technology.
We have submitted 5 proposals after we submitted our last report. We continue exploring other resource mobilization avenues.
We are grateful we received our first disbursement from GlobalGiving.
