Hope for Kenya Slum adolescents Initiative remains steadfast with its mission of empower young people in Kenya's informal settings.

During the past quarter, Education Empowerment for Kenya's Slum Adolescents continued to create education opportunities for vulnerable girls and boys in different parts of Kenya. Through this project, HKSAI paid tuition fees for an additional 38 girls and boys in high school. Additionally the organization provided learning materials for students who could not access required resources.

HKSAI admitted 24 students in higher level institutions of learning. i.e. in vocational training centers and universities. Four of these are HKSAI's first cohort beneficiaries admitted in the program in 2022, whenthey joined high school-a great milestone indeed.

In partnership with Prosperity in Mortion, HKSAI recruited and trained 5 young mother in financial literacy and motocycle riding, empowering them with skills and knowlegde for social emterpreneurship. In October 2026, they will each receive electric motobikes to start their businesses (Boda Boda riding).

Additionally, the organization organized and hosted community events, including key international days like Menstrual Hygiene Day. These provided the organization opportunity to reach about 7,578 young people with sexual and reproductive health information and referral for health services. Further more, HKSAI extended its empowerment mission through school health outreaches to about 8 schools reaching 813 young people and distributed 2,414 sanitary products.

HKSAI board of directors and the Secretariat remains resilient and focused to its mission despite the economic challenges.

Education Empowerment for Kenya's Slum Adolescents

HSKAI continues to improve access to education and health for vulnerabe girls and boys in Kenya's informal settings.

Since the beginning of the year, the organization has admitted 35 new beneficiaries to high school, and 15 new beneficiaries admitted to colleges. In addition to learning materials, HKSAI has been able to pay their full tuition fees. This brings our total number of our scholarship beneficiaries to 262. We currently have 30 continuing number of beneficiaries from 2025.

Additionally, we continue to conduct school health outreaches, reaching school girlls and boys with age-appropriate sexually education. We have visited 6 schools and mentored 980 students by the end of May 2026.

We also conducted holiday mentorship programs reaching about 2,724 adolescent girls. Participants also received sanitary products at the end of the sessions.

Leveraging advocacy on International Day Celebrations, HKSAI successfully organized the International Women's Day event in collaboration with her partners creating opportunity for community education and sensitization on the importance of celebrating women and the role they play in our families and communities. The event brought together about 300 participants.

On May 30th 2026, HKSAI successfully organized and executed the Menstrual Health Hygiene Day event reaching about 400 young people and community members. In addition we conducted a mental health session reaching 76 young people with mental haelth education and counselling.

The organization continues its efforts of fundraising. We successfully secured a small grand to implement an "Empowerment in Mortion" project, funds by Hands of Prosperity.

HKSAI has remained strategic in building partnerships with like-minded organizations. Since January, HKSAI has added 20 new partners to its list of collaborators.

Expanding Access to Education

By close of 2025 HKSAI has awarded 212 scholarships to high school and TVET students, ensuring that bright, underprivileged adolescents continue their education without financial barriers.
HKSAI provided her beneficiaries with educational materials such as; books, computers, pens and sanitary pads for the girls,
HKSAI launched a robust mentorship program, reaching more than 8,298 youth with peer-to-peer education on leadership, SRHR, and supplied over 8,000 dignity kits to her beneficiaries.
HKSAI enroled 33 new beneficiaries at its own Technical Training Center in Kibera equiping the young people with practical skills in ICT, digital design, web development, and cosmetology—positioning them for employment or sole entrepreneurship.
HKSAI developed and launched her 2026-2030 strategic plan.
The organization developed her Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning system for efficient and stregthened data collection and programme implemmentation.
In 2025, HKSAI was also able to develop and implement her Human Resource system for efficient implementation. This also inspired the deveopment of HKSAI operational manual and her financial policy
The organization invested heavily in staff capacity building; staff members were trained in data analytics and Organizational Development and Systems Strengthening conducted by AMREF.
By the end of 2025, HKSAI doubled its human resource for improved programme efficiency.
HKSAI participated in the New African Fund's thirty-days challenge, bring a sustancial resource to the organization, while increasing her partnerships.
HKSAI indirectly impacted 16,843 beneficiaries in different parts of the country by cose of 2025

Despite challenges like limited resources, HKSAI has remained committed to delivering high-impact programs. This, in turn, has led to improved educational outcomes, increased economic stability for women, stronger SRHR awareness, restored dignity for girls, and led to growing community resilience. HKSAI has laid a strong foundation for sustainable change, positioning young people to shape safer, healthier, and more equitable communities.
