Dear friends and supporters,
During a recent visit, the TFT bakery at Senehasa Girls Home was teeming with excitement. This initiative, part of TFT’s broader projects and originally funded by Wimbledon Girls' School in 2019, has flourished into a vital hub where young bakers nurture their skills and futures.
The activities and progress at the bakery were expertly captured by a professional film crew from Hari Global Media, ensuring that the inspiring stories of these young bakers are beautifully documented and shared.
The bakery teacher expressed deep gratitude towards all supporters of the project, outlining the curriculum that includes monthly modules on cakes, desserts, and pastries. She emphasized, “This is more than a course; it’s a bridge to job opportunities in a growing field." She highlighted the transformative impact of the bakery, offering the girls, previously without prospects or hope, a pathway to self-employment and independence. The curriculum equips them with valuable skills for potential opportunities abroad as well.
The enthusiasm within the bakery classes is palpable as each girl seizes the opportunity to learn and refine her baking skills. The community's demand for baked goods opens possibilities for these young women to start home-based businesses. Although their class hours are limited, they are highly productive, and some students have even secured scholarships for further training at a vocational centre.
The bakery serves as a crucial sanctuary for the girls, who are confined within the institution for their safety while their abusers remain at large. Beyond its walls, the bakery offers a respite from the harsh realities of institutional life, aiding in mental health by providing a creative outlet. Through baking, they experience moments of joy and independence, crafting bread and cakes that bring them pride and a vision of life beyond the institution.
Each baking session is not just about creating food, but crafting futures and fostering hope amongst the girls at Senehasa Girls Home. The bakery stands as a testament to the resilience and potential of its young bakers, who are on their way to building brighter, independent futures.
Thank you for being a cherished supporter. Your generosity is baked into every cake, every pastry, and every new opportunity created. Together, we're helping dreams rise and flourish. Here's to continuing our journey of empowerment and transformation.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Joel
