Education & hope for 165 needy children in India

In the story of Reaching Hand, 2021-2022 was a chapter of myriad milestones as well as learnings. We believe in learning from challenges instead of allowing them to deter us from our purpose of existence - to “Build, Care, Serve”. Reaching Hand reveres the community at large as “the heart” of the society and every action put forth by the organization aims to benefit the community and its members, whether through the umbrella programmes like “Govt school adoption”, “Youth skill development and placement”, “Women empowerment”, “Foster Care Home” and “School for the underprivileged” focusing on the effective members of the community.

 Therefore, when 2021 presented the second spell of COVID-19, most of our focus was channelled into relief and rehabilitation support to the community. As we look back at the impact we’ve created together, the lives we’ve touched and the smiles we’ve received along the way, on behalf of Reaching Hand, I would like to sound out our gratitude to our stakeholders who have backed us to aim higher so that we serve our community better.

 The collective efforts of our stakeholders - our children, the youth, women, corporate partners, donors, government and our volunteers are truly appreciable. Ultimately, the board of governance - without which none of this would have materialized into being. At last, we would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all our dedicated staff members who worked hard tirelessly  through various challenges.

The Children at New Home regularly love to visit the garden to pick up vegetables & ripe fruits, where they are reminded of our bountiful nature. Nature walks has been a part of our everyday life lately. The children always look forward to these outdoor walks. They learn the different types of plants and flowers all around them as they walk around.

 At the end of every month, we celebrate our children’s birthdays with cake cutting and yummy snacks. To add to that, we had volunteers who gifted the children with stuffed toys. It was a wonderful day for all who gathered there to celebrate.

 November 14^th is celebrated as Children’s Day annually across India to raise awareness about the rights, education & welfare of children. It was the Birthday of the first Prime minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was known to have been fond of children. Across India special events and programs are organized for children. At our campus, a renowned Actor in Bangalore, Arjun Gowda was the chief guest. All the children celebrated, danced, sang and participated in various activities.

 On the 4^th of December our children attended an event hosted by Catholic Club Orphan’s Trust. The children showcased their talents through dance & song. Soon after that they had their scrumptious lunch along with dessert. They relished everything that was served to them at meal time. The children were happy that they were gifted with Christmas goody bags along with a water bottle. It was a memorable day for all.

 Our Children are very happy to have received Tabs where they can watch educational videos. They now have access to more educational videos and enjoy every bit of learning by watching and listening. Thank you for supporting us to reach out to many underprivileged children.
