Tomba is a hardworking young lad from the North Eastern state of Manipur. His older brother and sister still live in Imphal village in Manipur. As destiny would have it ,Tomba became a part of NEW HOME in 2008 when he was 7 years old.
He was enrolled in St Michael’s School in grade 3. New Home team noticed his vivid interest and talent in sports and games and enrolled him for additional football and chess coaching. He won many trophies for his school in football and chess and even represented the school team as football caption in his grade 9th and 10th. Currently he has completed grade 12 in Commerce and awaits his results. He looks forward to doing BBA and pursue his career interest in the field of marketing.
Tomba says,” New Home is my home and looking back I would not change a thing. They have always encouraged athletics and motivated me. I am very thankful.”
A Great Start
2019 has been exciting starting Day 1 with an outing to the movies! The children were delighted to see the film “Aquaman” in theatres at the new Spi Aura Theatre in Whitefield. For some of them it was there very first time at a theatre – and for others their first movie in 3D!
Soon after our own grounds were turned into a mini Amusement Park and our kitchen into a 5-star buffet for a very special birthday party! The kids were thrilled to spend their morning and afternoon jumping on bounce houses, slides, rides, and more. In February 8 of our girls got to participate in JP Morgan Run and they loved it!
GRADUATION
We are so proud of our four 10th standard and one 12th standard students for graduating this year and for all their academic achievements. Kateni and Sneha graduated 10th from St. Michael’s High School and Tomba from 12th grade, Dayanand and Sarasu graduated from our Lighthouse International Academy.
Exam Fever ON
After all the excitement of graduation, the students still had to worry about the pressure of exams. Now that they are done with the final exams they can let out a sigh of relief! As we await the results, we are sure all the hard work will pay off!
Results of our children Prem - topper in his college with a 93% in Commerce and Ruth topped in Arts with an 80%! We are very proud of them and their achievements.
Dayanand and Sarasu are currently doing their 10th NIOS exams. They are determined to persevere!
All other students, while not taking boards, also had exams at their schools – St. Michaels and Lighthouse International Academy. Maria, 9th standard Commerce, received the STAR STUDENT award for being the topper, as well as exemplary leadership award, and honors awards in English, Commerce, and Home Science.
Lighthouse International Academy ended for the year with a BANG! A well-deserved outing in Lalbagh Botanical Gardens and Aquarium, along with a creative performance-filled year completes it all. The students wowed the audience with their songs, dances, acrobatic moves not forgetting their academic excellence.
Thank you to each of you for your support, donations, well wishes, encouragement, and sponsorships throughout the years. None of these achievements would have been possible without you! We would be delighted to meet you some day at our NEW HOME.
