Let me take this opportunity to wish all our donors, friends and well-wishers a happy new year 2020. We had a peaceful holiday season and we hope you did too. The children are enjoying the last weeks of their holiday and ready to start the new school year.
Two weeks from today (18th January 2020), the first school term of the year will commence. Unlike the previous years, the project is currently in a vulnerable state particularly with the issue of the outstanding school fees balances from 2019, an empty food store and the likelihood that the child will attend school in 2020! This is worrying but the team and I are hopeful that we will pull through as we have done in the past, more so with your help and support.
On a much brighter note, Abigaba, our only candidate who sat for the national primary leaving exams in 2019 excelled with an impressive division 2 (Agg 14) and should be joining senior 1 at the start of the term. This is impressive because he had several mental health challenges (demonic attacks) within the year. Two of the children, Akanjuna and Ainembabazi will be joining senior 4 and should sit for the 2020 Uganda Certificate of Education national exams at the end of the year. Four of the children, (Mwesigwa, Tayebya, Kenema, and Ninsima) will join the Primary 7 candidate class and will be sitting for the national primary leaving examinations and ready to join secondary schools in 2021. The rest will be joining their new classes at the lower primary school level. This is certainly good news for the project and most importantly good news for the children given that it is a process empowering these children as they continue to shape their future. I thank you all for the generosity and support that you extend to us that makes all these good things happen.
Whereas the current state of affairs is crowded in endless uncertainty, one thing that has kept us going is our belief that together we can continue to help and support these children who in every sense of the word still need our help. I thus choose to remain hopeful that you, our caring, faithful and supportive donors, friends and well-wishers will continue to prevail over the project and help provide for these children's' school fees and home needs as you have always done. I thus request for your continued support as we try to make the situation good for the children, most especially as we plan for and begin the first school term of 2020. Your support, contributions, and donations are as always welcome and appreciated. Together, let us put a smile on a child's face as the new school term begins.
Thank you always and I wish you the best in 2020
