Contribute to Upgrading Rural Education in Morocco

Dar Si Hmad would like to introduce three new members to  the family of Dar Si Hmad.  Two humans and one canine are working diligently to meet the project's goals and  transform the learning world of the children in the Ait Baamrane region of Southwest Morocco.

Please check the pictures, Ms. Saloua Cherkaoui is now our consultant on seeds and is actively gathering them in the region so we constitute our seedbank to share with the larger community.  We also teach the children about variety, value and the importance of local action. Ms. Cherkaoui has come and spoken to the children with her bag full of seeds and grains to a mesmirized group of pupils. The children simply fell in love with her passion and knowledge.  We went out and planted in school-garden, we ate the loaf of bread she brought made of old grains and the children had an amazing afternoon.

Then we'd like you to meet Mr. Mustapha Oufegha, Dar Si Hmad's Agdal Aachour Didactic farm manager. Mustapha's conversion from "intensive" agriculture where he worked for a decade to permaculture was radical. He joined our team in search for a cause as he had witnessed the damages caused by the other agricultural practices and wanted a profound change. He is now working on the didactic farm where the children do come to play and plant; it is their space for hands-on learning. He is assisting Saloua in gathering, labelling, and planting the seeds for the Dar Si Hmad's seed-bank. 

And finally, meet Leo who was given to the organisation about a month ago and we all simply LOVE him. The children also find him to be the best play-mate.  Through all of the work and dedicacy of the members, we are able to have the pupils of this low-ressourced community learn and discover more about the world than formal education would ever make it possible.
